A big shout out—Minico Key Club spent a couple hours cleaning up garbage at the haunted mansion in Albion. They were also treated with a tour. Key Club also painted the Minico Rock last week. Way to go!

Cory Christensen of Wright Physical Therapy shared his experiences of working with both body and mind to overcome issues. If we understand how much our mindset can influence our physical direction, we can achieve inner and physical strength. Belief turns to actions and create a shift in all aspects of life. He has written “The Inner Shift” to help describe the processes we can follow to improve.

Meet with us next Tuesday at noon at the Rupert Elks Lodge for lunch and a program. See how your life can be better as you both learn and serve!

Our club recognized Audrey Neiwert for her 25 years of service and perfect attendance at our club meetings, service projects and other activities within the club. Her impact has been immeasurable throughout the community. She was also joined by her daughter Georgia Herdman and husband Jeff Herdman.
We appreciate all that our former mayor of Rupert has done!

Mike Darrington, manager of United Electric for past 5 years, shared information about the load growth across the nation. Data centers and crypto mining are consuming high loads and United will require them to cover costs of generation and transmission of electricity. He also provided a broad background on the Columbia river and tributaries of which we are a part. He discussed spill, salmon numbers and anticipated electrical rate increases, all of which are too detailed to explain here.
So since you are missing out on additional information, come join us for next week’s meeting on Tuesday at noon at the Elk’s Lodge!

The Fantastic Kris Faux shared with us improvements and all the goings-on at the Wilson Theatre for our program today. They have a new grant-funded LED backdrop for the entire stage to be installed next month! Other activities are the Princess Tea Party, traditional variety show for the 250th celebration for America, Southern Idaho Youth Theatrics, The Wizarding, Little Miss Christmas, Cowboy Poetry, and a full range of Christmas programs in December. Singing in the Rain, Annie, and Garfield are just around the corner. So many good things to enjoy!!!

We had an awesome program today with dancers and musicians from Slovakia with the Magic Valley Folk Festival!! Come see all the teams tonight at the Rupert square at 7 and the Galas on Friday and Saturday at the KFAC at 7. Also youth culture day is Wednesday at Burley High School starting at 9am. Kiwanis is a proud sponsor of this event.

We had a fun and busy first day in the food booth on the Rupert square. Thanks to all who came and got burgers, chicken and ice cream from us. We look forward to food and fun the rest of the week!!

Idaho Battle of Books!! The club did well, taking first place in the regional competition in Sun Valley! Our Kiwanis club supported them with a donation to help them get there!
The team read 16 books of all genres and had to answer questions to determine which book is referenced and asked about content of books. They shared their passion of reading books with us! They learned note-taking skills, making friends, gaining leadership skills in addition to reading books. What a fun group of kids!

The Burley Farmers Market is a well-rounded family-friendly event that is staffed by youth who help vendors set up booths and haul product to various booths. They also have kids' activities on site and further support other activities with fruits and vegetables in other circles. This non-profit program is a great way to meet others and provide support to local vendors and teens involved in the market!
Donations from businesses and individuals are accepted throughout the year.

Simply Hope provided our program today to share all their work with families and teens. They've served 450 youth so far and average about 20 kids each night. They help with basic life skills and refer out to counselors or other medical professionals for appropriate support. We are proud to support Simply Hope that serves the Mini-Cassia region, and grateful for their service to improve kids' lives!
