Fighter's Chance

Fighter's Chance Fighters Chance has been formed to help young men and women become outstanding citizens in the community despite their monitory limitations.

Our goals are to help youth improve their self-discipline, self-worth, confidence, physical activity, and responsibility that they can practice in all areas of their lives. Our goal is to provide underprivileged and high risk youth of Cassia and Minidoka County a place where they can participate at no cost in physical fitness while learning the sport of boxing. Children who are raised in low-incom

e households are at a high risk to become involved in drugs, criminal activity. The Fighters Chance wants to target at risk youth. The physical activity that is involved in boxing can help kids reduce stress, anxiety and behavioral problems. Being involved in a sport can also help kids perform better in school and learn the importance of goal setting and planning. The Fighters Chance Program will give participates the opportunity to engage in appropriate competition with theirs peers that can help increase the feeling of accomplishment and boost self-esteem. Gary Pawson the founder for Fighters Chance has been a trainer of young boxers for 8 years successfully in the community; he recognized a larger need than what he alone could offer in the current small facility. Creating a gym that is large enough would expand the reach to additional athletes and families. For the program to be successful there is going to be a need for strong community support. As part of the standard terms of (no cost) membership, the kids will have to participate in local community service, fundraisers, help collect donations, and hosting training camps. "Punches where they belong".....

Sofia stepped in for her debut with a more experienced opponent and gave it her all! Though we came up short, I’m proud of the fact she was throwing and going for the win until the final bell! Back to the lab to continue to develop, she has a huge future.

Our friend out of put on a clinic in her debut as well. We are so proud of her and the team and glad our girls were able to get tons of rounds in the ring together leading up to this! Watch out boxing world Aliyah is no joke💪

Incredibly fortunate to travel and see the beautiful places we get to see. This trip was a quick one to one of our favorite places Kelowna, British Columbia.

It wasn’t our best night in Canada but I’m proud of these boys and I’ll walk with them into war after war. Noah lost a close rematch to an awesome opponent in Mikey Fisher. Urijah came up on the wrong side of a decision against a very talented boxer. Though I thought we did enough to get the nod, we left the ring knowing we could have done more. Back to the lab to get these boys ready for the home show.

Our boy got the stoppage in the main event against a Canadian national champ hailing from Ukraine. Was great working his corner for such a master class.

As always thanks to my brother Geoff for the hospitality.

Happy birthday to this young lion. To know Leo is to be in awe of his discipline and leadership. The hardest worker in the room even after a full day of work. He shows up constantly for his team, new and old. From one of our first students to a true champion of the game, a COACH, and, now, an official as well. This king wears a lot of hats, and he excels with each. I’m proud of the man you are Leo. Now I’d like to take some credit for that—but the truth is, you’ve always been THAT GUY.
