AYSO Region 165 families — the season is almost here, and things are starting to move fast!

Coaches are reaching out, practices are beginning, teams are getting organized, and we’re preparing our fields for Opening Weekend.

Anyone attending Coach Training MUST register for the in-person course in AYSOU and complete the required online portion before attending.

🟨 REFEREE TRAINING — NEW DATE
Thursday, September 10
5:00 PM – 7:30 PM
Brulte Field

To attend Referee Training, you must first register as a volunteer through our Region website, access AYSOU, register for the course, and complete the online portion BEFORE the in-person class.

And then comes the weekend we’ve all been waiting for! 🙌

We have a lot happening over the next few weeks.

⚽ 10U & 12U PLAYER EVALUATIONS + DRAFT THIS WEEKEND! ⚽

AYSO Region 165 families — it’s time to get our 10U & 12U Boys and Girls teams ready for Fall!

📍 PLAYER EVALUATIONS – SATURDAY @ BRULTE FIELD

🕑 10U Boys & Girls – 2:00 PM
🕞 12U Boys & Girls – 3:30 PM

Boys and girls will work separately with our coaches and participate in individual drills, group drills, and scrimmage-style game play to help us build the most balanced teams possible.

✅ Players need to bring/wear:
⚽ Cleats
🧦 Soccer socks
🛡️ Shin guards
🩳 Athletic shorts
👕 Athletic shirt
💧 LOTS of water!

Parents — please bring chairs, EZ-Ups or umbrellas, sunscreen, and plenty of water for yourselves too!

🚨 IMPORTANT: PLAYERS MUST BE EVALUATED TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE DRAFT.

Players who do not attend evaluations cannot be selected during the draft and will instead be assigned to a team by Region 165 leadership after the draft.

📋 TEAM DRAFT – SUNDAY

🕓 4:00 PM – 10U Girls
🕟 4:30 PM – 10U Boys
🕔 5:00 PM – 12U Girls
🕠 5:30 PM – 12U Boys

The draft will be hosted by our newest Region 165 Board Members, Dustin and Margharita Warner.

Our goal is simple: balanced teams, fair competition, and the best possible soccer experience for every player. 💙⚽

Any disputes or issues involving evaluations, the draft, or player placement will be reviewed and resolved by the Regional Commissioner.

Winning Isn't the Goal—Growing Is

Walk past one of our AYSO Region 165 Mountain Resorts fields on a Saturday morning, and you'll probably hear cheers after a goal, applause after a great save, or encouragement following a tough mistake.

But if you look a little closer, you'll notice something even more important happening.

A player who was afraid to touch the ball last season is now calling for a pass.

A teammate picks up another player after a fall instead of celebrating their own success.

A coach praises effort instead of the scoreboard.

Those moments are why AYSO exists.

While the excitement of competition is part of the game, our mission has always been bigger than winning. Soccer is the classroom. Character is the lesson.

Every practice teaches more than passing and shooting. Players learn how to solve problems, communicate under pressure, trust one another, and keep going when things don't go their way. Those are life skills that extend far beyond the soccer field.

One of the unique strengths of AYSO is that every player is given the opportunity to participate and develop. Our philosophies—including Everyone Plays®, Balanced Teams, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship, and Player Development—create an environment where success is measured by growth, not just goals scored.
