Today, we honor the rich traditions, history, and enduring spirit of Indigenous peoples. At Inn of the Mountain Gods, we are proud to celebrate the culture, values, and heritage of the Mescalero Apache Tribe, whose connection to this land continues to inspire generations.

As we gather with family and community, we reflect on the strength, wisdom, and resilience of Indigenous peoples and give thanks for the traditions that keep our stories alive.

May we continue to honor the past, celebrate the present, and walk forward together with respect and gratitude.

Isolation is not always silence. Sometimes it looks like unanswered calls, friendships that slowly disappear, family kept at a distance, or being made to believe that no one else will understand.

Isolation is a powerful tactic of abuse because when someone’s world becomes smaller, so can their sense of possibility. It can make a survivor feel alone, dependent, and without a way out.

But connection can be an act of resistance. A trusted friend. An advocate. A neighbor. A family member who keeps reaching out. One person saying, “I’m here. I believe you. You are not alone.” can help reopen a door that abuse tried to close.

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, remember: if someone you care about has become distant, keep the door open. Your presence may matter more than you know.

Isolation gives abuse power. Connection gives survivors options.
