🎳 Strikes, Smiles & Good Times! 🎳

This past weekend, our High Mountain Youth Project shelter staff and youth enjoyed a fun-filled outing at Yesterlanes! 🎉

From bowling and enjoying some delicious food to playing games in the arcade, the day was filled with laughter, friendly competition, and great memories! 🎳🍕🕹️

More than just a fun outing, it was a wonderful opportunity for our youth and staff to connect, strengthen relationships, and spend quality time together outside the shelter. ❤️

At High Mountain Youth Project, we believe moments like these are important in creating a sense of belonging, building trust, and reminding our youth that they are part of a supportive community.

🍽️ WE’RE HIRING: KITCHEN COORDINATOR!

High Mountain Youth Project (HMYP) is looking for a dependable and caring Kitchen Coordinator to join our team and help us provide nutritious, high-quality meals and snacks to the youth and young adults we serve.

This is a full-time position supporting our Youth Emergency Shelter and Drop-In Center in Ruidoso, NM.

The Kitchen Coordinator will help oversee daily kitchen and food service operations, including:
• Meal and snack preparation
• Food purchasing and inventory
• Meal planning and service
• Kitchen cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety
• Maintaining required food service records and documentation

Qualifications include:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least one year of food service experience
• Experience with food preparation, inventory, purchasing, storage, and meal service
• Willingness to learn and follow CACFP and New Mexico food service requirements

Tomorrow is our Goin’ Once, Goin’ Twice… Bid for a Bright Future! fundraising event—and before the bidding begins, we want to take a moment to remember what this evening is really about.

It’s about the youth and young adults in our community.

It’s about making sure a young person has a safe place to land when they need it.

It’s about providing a place to go where they can feel welcomed, supported, and connected.

And it’s about helping young people find a path forward as they work toward education, employment, stability, and self-sufficiency.

Through our 24-Hour Youth Shelter, Drop-In Youth Center, and Transitional Housing Program, High Mountain Youth Project works to meet young people where they are while helping them build toward what comes next.

Tomorrow, our community has an opportunity to help make that work possible. ❤️

❤️ WHAT ARE YOU BIDDING FOR? A PATH FORWARD.

A safe place to live can provide stability. But having the support, resources, and opportunities to build an independent future can change the direction of a young person’s life.

High Mountain Youth Project’s Transitional Housing Program is one of our newer programs, established just about a year ago, with a focus on helping youth and young adults work toward self-sufficiency and long-term success.

🏠 Stable housing and support
🎓 Education-focused guidance and goal setting
💼 Employment support and career planning
🤝 Individualized case management and connections to resources
🌱 Life skills and support toward greater independence

Through individualized case management, participants receive support focused on areas such as education and employment, while working toward the goals and skills that will help them become more self-sufficient.

The goal of the program isn’t simply to provide housing. It’s to help each young person establish a solid foundation for success so that when they graduate from the program, they are better prepared to move forward independently and build the future they want for themselves.

❤️ WHAT ARE YOU BIDDING FOR? A PLACE TO GO.

Sometimes, having a safe and welcoming place to spend the afternoon can make a bigger difference than we realize.

High Mountain Youth Project’s Drop-In Youth Center provides a welcoming space for youth and young adults Monday through Friday from 1–7 PM.

It’s a place where young people can walk through the door, feel welcome, and know there are people and resources available to support them.

🏠 A safe and welcoming place to spend time
❤️ Supportive adults who are there to listen
🍽️ Access to food and basic necessities
🤝 Connections to resources and services
🌱 A place to feel supported and connected

For some youth and young adults, it may simply be a safe place to go during the afternoon and evening. For others, walking through our doors can be the first step toward finding additional resources, support, and stability.
