💜 September is Su***de Prevention Month

This month, we remember those we have lost, raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote hope for those who may be struggling.

In loving memory of Anna Schaan, her legacy continues through Anna Schaan’s Light: A Mental Health Legacy of Hope Endowment, established to support mental health in the Rugby-area community.

The endowment works to expand access to mental health care and support services, increase education and awareness, and reduce stigma while promoting hope for individuals and families.

We are grateful to the Rugby Community Endowment Fund, through the North Dakota Community Foundation (NDCF), for awarding the Good Samaritan Health Services Foundation a $3,000 grant to support the purchase and upgrade of CPR mannequins at Heart of America Medical Center.

This funding will help ensure our CPR instructors have access to up-to-date equipment, allowing us to continue providing current, high-quality CPR training to our community members, healthcare staff, and employees throughout Rugby and the surrounding area.

The Rugby Community Endowment Fund is a permanent component fund of the North Dakota Community Foundation (NDCF). 🎓 Celebrating Healthcare Education in the Rugby-Area!

We were honored to celebrate the 2026 recipients of the Tuchscherer Rugby-Area Health Endowment for Healthcare Education at a recent recognition luncheon.

This year, $3,000 was distributed among four scholarship recipients supporting their education and professional development in healthcare. Jim and Gerd Tuchscherer also generously surprised this year’s recipients with an additional $10,000 gift — providing $2,500 to each recipient!

Jim and Gerd established this endowment with a vision of supporting healthcare education in the Rugby area, and their generosity continues to make a meaningful difference for those pursuing careers in healthcare.

Now, the community has an opportunity to help continue growing that impact. Donations to the Tuchscherer Rugby-Area Health Endowment will help provide future educational opportunities for healthcare professionals in our area.

Thank you to everyone who attended the EMS Brunch Fundraiser over the weekend! We were thrilled to welcome more than 160 community members who came out to enjoy breakfast and support our local EMS team. 🚑💙

A very special thank you goes to Michele Johnson and the Dietary Team for all of their hard work preparing and cooking the food, setting up the event, and making sure everything ran smoothly for our guests. Your dedication and effort helped make the morning such a success!

We’d also like to thank our EMS staff who attended and assisted throughout the event by serving guests, helping where needed, and providing ambulance tours. We truly appreciate their continued commitment to caring for and serving our communities each and every day.
