I know there has been a lot of confusion regarding MGHS and our eviction from our home at Jeri Allen Way, thanks to Greene County BOS. I want to make it clear that we are NOT closing the shelter. We are operating at a temporary location. Please have all donations sent to our PO Box 95 in Ruckersville. We are in great need of monetary donations to help keep our doors open. You can view our cats available for adoption on ShelterLuv, and we have cats available at the adoption center in Petsmart at Hollymead. Please help us continue to help the people of Greene County by providing shelter for stray, abandoned, and surrendered cats by giving whatever you can afford. Every penny goes directly to the care of the cats. Thank you.

Well, it seems that Greene County in has decided to evict us at 9am Friday 10/16. That's 2 days from now. Any help you can provide in the way of muscle power to help with the moving of cages, tables, computers, printers, etc would be greatly appreciated. We also need a washer/dryer moved, shelving units, and the removal of a mini-split in one of our sheds. Normally I don't like to badmouth people on social media, but this goes beyond my ability to ignore. The politics and limited intelligence of the people who run Greene County have taken away a valuable resource to the community and the cats that depend upon us to survive. They've given their care to people who have limited or no experience with cats, and who hide behind a facade of acting like they care, when they spend most of their time telling lies and gossip. Shame on them for what they have done, and shame on Greene County.

MGHS IS NOT CLOSING. Greene County has refused to negotiate a contract with MGHS. The County is in violation of State Law regarding having a contract with the non-profit that cares for the County cats, meaning MGHS. The County would not even have a meeting with MGHS to discuss possibilities. Instead of leaving the care of the cats to the people who have taken care of them since 1985, and provided a much needed service by offering rabies clinics, low cost spay/neuter services, food banks, support for feral cat colonies, adoption services, etc. They have given over the care of Greene County cats to the Greene County Dog Shelter. Furthermore, the County has given us an eviction notice. We must vacate the current location by 12/31/26. We are looking for a new location. If anyone knows of a suitable spot, please let us know. In the meantime, you will see and hear gossip, rumors, and lies about MGHS. Please stop by the shelter or email us with any questions so we can tell you the truth.

This duo is looking for their forever home! Sushi and Smoki are two sweet young cats that are cuddly and adventurous. Simon is looking for his forever home. This little guy is affectionate and gentle with his heart that shines as bright as his blue eyes.shelter staff have fallen in love with his kind personality. We are hopeful his forever family is right around the corner looking for a cat like Simon.
