As camp season arrives, we’re reminded that God has never been looking for the most qualified people. He’s looking for willing hearts. We believe there are children who will walk through our gates carrying stories of hurt, loss, abandonment, and abuse. And we believe God will use ordinary people to remind them of an extraordinary truth.

She was 10 years old, in foster care, and came to Lonesome Dove Ranch not knowing what to expect.

Years later, she reached out to us. Here's part of what she wrote — exactly as she wrote it:

"That camp truly meant so much to me. It was a place where I felt safe, supported, and connected not just to others but also in my relationship with God. Even years later, I still carry what I learned and experienced there with me, and it helped shape who I am today."

Her name is Gabby. And now — she wants to come back to serve and be that for another child. This summer, Lonesome Dove Ranch will serve more children than at any point in our history.

Our first camp starts in less than a week. Seven camps are scheduled. Only 2½ are funded.

🥙 $15 dollars provides three nutritious meals for one day for one camper

💛 $600 sponsors one child for a full week.

🚌 $1,000 charters the first-class coach that picks them up from the city and brings them to the ranch like the kings and queens they are.

🎂 $2,000 throws a birthday party for every camper at one camp.

🏕️ $30,000 underwrites all the expenses for every child for an entire camp.

National Child Abuse Awareness Month is a reminder that so many children are walking through things no child should ever have to carry. In honor of April, we’re sharing a few statistics to help bring greater awareness and understanding.

Easter reminds us that even in the darkest places, light breaks through. What was once broken has been made new.

We are honored to be a place of refuge and care for children who have experienced deep hurt—creating space for safety, restoration, and the steady reminder that there is new life found in Christ.

Today we remember the cross, and we rejoice in the empty tomb. He is risen.

As we prepare for our most impactful summer of camp ever, this image from last week at the ranch reminded us of the promise that God is partnering with us to bring healing to the lives of brokenhearted children.

We are looking forward to summer 2026 with much anticipation for God to move in the hearts and lives of the kids coming to LDR. We couldn’t do this without your prayers and support.
