Lonesome Dove Ranch

Lonesome Dove Ranch Lonesome Dove Ranch provides a place of healing for abused and neglected children as well as a place of healing and restoration for rural pastors.

The broken hearted children who come to Lonesome Dove Ranch leave with more than fun memories of fishing, riding horses, making crafts, and singing songs. Our true vision is to see their broken hearts mended. Using fishing, archery, tractors, horses, hayrides, bonfires and the entire outdoor experience, the counselors and staff of the camp help kids briefly forget about their pain and build positi

ve relationships. We know that one week isn’t enough time to solve all their problems, but it’s a start. Beyond camp the ranch provides:

- Special Events
- Retreats
- Intensive One-on-One Ministry (for kids and
families)
- Clinical Counseling
- Therapeutic Riding
- Above all, we want to use the ranch environment to bring them healing through the love of Jesus Christ. The ranch will also serve as a bed-and-breakfast, free of charge, to rural pastors and their families. They will have access to intensive counseling and healing from burnout or heartbreak due to the unique challenges of small town and rural church ministry. We want to serve these often under-served men and women of God so they can return to their ministries recharged and refreshed.

We regularly hear from caregivers in our post-camp follow up that camp changed their kids in ways they didn’t see coming.

One mom told us about her son Elijah, who's been coming to camp since he was 8. This past year, something shifted. He came home and told her, "It changed me in ways I didn't know were possible." He said Lonesome Dove "is growing with me." And then this week — out of nowhere — he told her, "Mom, when I make it to the Major Leagues, I'm going to give back to Lonesome Dove and every kid will get a signed baseball."

That's what you make possible.

We have $88,400 still to raise to hit our $210,000 goal — and right now, $28,400.56 in matching dollars are still available. Every gift you make will be doubled.

Because of the cost of most summer camp, Lonesome Dove is the only camp experience many of these children ever experience. It’s free to them, but is making a priceless impact on their lives.

👇 Give today at https://lonesomedovetexas.com and double your impact before the match runs out.

Camp 1 of 7 is in the books!🤠

What an incredible week serving foster kids. We are grateful for the work the Lord is doing in their lives and in ours through this ministry. None of this would be possible without the faithful support, prayers, and generosity of those who partner with us. Thank you for helping make moments like these possible.

One camp down, six more to go! We can’t wait to see all that God has in store this summer. 🙌

All campers shown have parent/guardian-approved photo release forms on file.

“You’re not going to these camps because you’ve got everything together. You’re going because you said yes.”

As camp season arrives, we’re reminded that God has never been looking for the most qualified people. He’s looking for willing hearts. We believe there are children who will walk through our gates carrying stories of hurt, loss, abandonment, and abuse. And we believe God will use ordinary people to remind them of an extraordinary truth.

Pray with us as we prepare for another summer of showing up for the children God loves so deeply.

She was 10 years old, in foster care, and came to Lonesome Dove Ranch not knowing what to expect.

Years later, she reached out to us. Here's part of what she wrote — exactly as she wrote it:

"That camp truly meant so much to me. It was a place where I felt safe, supported, and connected not just to others but also in my relationship with God. Even years later, I still carry what I learned and experienced there with me, and it helped shape who I am today."

Her name is Gabby. And now — she wants to come back to serve and be that for another child. This summer, Lonesome Dove Ranch will serve more children than at any point in our history.

Our first camp starts in less than a week. Seven camps are scheduled. Only 2½ are funded.

Right now, every dollar you give is MATCHED — up to $37,611.83 in matching funds is available and waiting to be unlocked.

🥙 $15 dollars provides three nutritious meals for one day for one camper

💛 $600 sponsors one child for a full week.

🚌 $1,000 charters the first-class coach that picks them up from the city and brings them to the ranch like the kings and queens they are.

🎂 $2,000 throws a birthday party for every camper at one camp.

🏕️ $30,000 underwrites all the expenses for every child for an entire camp.

❤️ Any amount makes a Gabby story possible.

We take zero government funding. Every camp is underwritten entirely by people like you. Help us make this a summer full of stories like Gabby's.

April holds space for stories that often go unseen.

National Child Abuse Awareness Month is a reminder that so many children are walking through things no child should ever have to carry. In honor of April, we’re sharing a few statistics to help bring greater awareness and understanding.

At Lonesome Dove Ranch, we have the honor of stepping into those stories offering safety, celebration, and the steady reminder that their lives matter deeply.

Easter reminds us that even in the darkest places, light breaks through. What was once broken has been made new.

We are honored to be a place of refuge and care for children who have experienced deep hurt—creating space for safety, restoration, and the steady reminder that there is new life found in Christ.

Today we remember the cross, and we rejoice in the empty tomb. He is risen.

As we prepare for our most impactful summer of camp ever, this image from last week at the ranch reminded us of the promise that God is partnering with us to bring healing to the lives of brokenhearted children.

We are looking forward to summer 2026 with much anticipation for God to move in the hearts and lives of the kids coming to LDR. We couldn’t do this without your prayers and support.
