The "Kindness Competition" between Royersford and Pottstown with my friend, Stephanie Henrick Pottstown Mayor

Truthfully, connecting with fellow mayors across the county and commonwealth - past and present - has been one of the highlights of this entire experience. Pre-pandemic, we gathered to tour different boroughs, exchanged stories (all good, I promise! 😇), eat food, and we consistently turn to one another for advice or to celebrate different personal and professional milestones. I'm so grateful for my (and the mayors outside of MontCo I'm privileged to know)! Thanks, friends. I'm so happy to continue following the goodness you bring to your boroughs.

This so-called "Kindness Competition" was born from inspiration from our local Simply Positive Kids and it took off! Kindness continues in Royersford in many ways; I see it every day. It's a simple but powerful concept. Keep it up. The ripple effect can be felt across miles and months and has power and influence beyond measure.

Simply Positive Kids is growing and we are looking for two individuals to join our board. These individuals would preferably have the following qualifications:

⁃ A child or children still enrolled in elementary or middle school.
⁃ The ability to commit to two meetings per month, with a heavier commitment September through December.
⁃ A vision that aligns with our mission of community service and providing the skills for children to foster leadership and confidence through service.
⁃ Special consideration for someone willing and able to create content for social media on a consistent basis.

We are solely a volunteer based organization so the board seat is unpaid. Resumes and letters of interest can be sent to [email protected]. There will be an interview process with our current board. Sometimes in life you’re handed a surprise that restores your faith in the big picture, helps you recenter your mission, blindsides you in all the best ways possible.

We are so happy to announce that due to the thoughtful submission of Amy Vassalluzzo, Simply Positive Kids is one of the very fortunate recipients of the Phillies Charities Grant for $25,000.

Amy’s kids have participated with us in the past and she so graciously filled out the grant application on our behalf. Amy, you’ll likely never understand how grateful we are.

Now that the amazing news is out we CANNOT wait to get to work and have already started thinking of ways we can get better, be consistent throughout the year and create space for kids of all ages to lift their community.

Thank you all for sticking with us, believing in our vision and having faith in us. We promise to get bigger and better.

Come be a part of Fantastic Friends! Fantastic Friends is a club that connects students at PJPII High School with students that have developmental and intellectual disabilities through social events. These friends participate in a variety of activities together and build strong friendships. Fantastic Friends aims to celebrate uniqueness and create special bonds within Montgomery County and the surrounding area.  The club will meet up once a month with the students in the community at the high school and will hold special events every 2-3 months. Some events include a Pumpkin Patch visit, Christmas Party, and mini Basketball Tournament.

Dropped off more donations from today. Snacks, protein bars, clothing, shampoo, tampons, all very easily dropped at who serves the community endlessly. If you can help, please do! Definitely one of the places that gets things into the hands of those who need them.
