Go Team Therapy Dogs - Metro Detroit/Michigan

Therapy Dogs on the move! Disaster areas, schools, hospitals, libraries, special events, senior centers, assistant living anywhere a therapy dog is needed.

The GO TEAM Therapy Dogs are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to placing well trained certified therapy dog teams in programs that provide comfort and caring through a canine-human bond. Our special volunteers serve in a wide variety of settings including assisted living homes, libraries, schools, hospitals, helping victims in distress, working with our servicemen, first re

sponders and anywhere a therapy/comfort dog are needed. All of the dogs on The GO TEAM must pass their CGC (Canine Good Citizen through the AKC) prior to attending class. Classes include real life situations working in Assisted Living and Nursing Homes, Paws2Read Library Events, Special Community Events, Elevator and Escalator Etiquette, Participating and Interacting with First Responders and much more.

🎒 Annual Certification Weekend Coming Up! 🐾
Now is the perfect time to check, refresh, and prep your backpack with all the essentials you and your pup need for the big weekend.

🐕 Therapy Dog Essentials Checklist
* Official gear: Vest, bandanas, ID tags, trading cards, etc.
* Pup comfort: Travel water bowl, and container for fresh water
* Clean-up crew: Waste bags, grooming wipes, small lint roller, etc.
* Handler prep: Notebook, pen, vet records, emergency contacts, hand sanitizer, and a water bottle for you.

Meet our President of the Board of Directors

Cheryl Minto

Cheryl wasn’t born in Idaho, but she got there as quick as she could after a 24-year career in the Air Force as a maintainer and logistician. She has a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Southern California, an Masters of Science in Management from Troy State University and an Masters of Science in National Security and Resource Strategy from National Defense University. Cheryl joined Go Team in 2018 with her Rough Collie, Winston, and loves bringing smiles to the community. She also volunteers as an EMT in her rural county and helps maintain and manage the administration of her local Catholic Church – St Joseph’s Catholic Chapel in Idaho City. Cheryl and her husband, Pat, enjoy traveling, mountain biking, hiking and just enjoying Idaho’s beautiful outdoors. Cheryl and her Go Team Therapy Dogs Winston have completed over 900 volunteer visits!

Oh boy, oh boy! Who’s excited seeing those Back-to-school signs popping up in stores? Starting school means back to our many school visits that our pups love so much! Tails will be wagging, butts will be wiggling, and happiness will be exploding from our therapy dogs when they see all of their friends again. We can’t wait! Bonus points if you can guess which wagging tails are featured in our video 😉🦮🐾📚

🎉 Happy Retirement, Team Gibbs! 🎉

After 9 years of spreadin’ smiles and waggin’ tails with Go Team Therapy Dogs, Gibbs is officially trading his therapy vest for a lifetime of belly rubs! 🐶❤️

Since 2017, this handsome Goldendoodle has been the ultimate community comforter and a legendary mentor to other pups learning the ropes. Talk about a very good boy!

August marks the official start of his endless summer vacation. Gibbs, we will miss you like crazy—enjoy all the treats! 🦴✨

It sure is hard greeting people and being loved on but someone’s got to do it! Andi and Skadi enjoy a nice nap on their drive home. Therapy dogs give their whole hearts during every visit, and when the work is done, they recharge the best way they know how—fast asleep, dreaming of the people they comforted. Sweet dreams! 🥰❤️🦮🐾😴
