Two Rotary Events this week-have a look! Register!

We have two important events happening this week that we’d like to share with you:

Our District Governor, Sharna Hatcher, has invited all members to join a virtual session with Rotary International President, Stephanie Urchick. This is a fantastic opportunity to hear from our international leadership and engage in an informative discussion. Our Club President, Kelly Auckland, will be attending and encourages more of us to participate in this valuable session. Please see the details below. Rotary International President, Stephanie Urchick will visit our District at the invitation of Club President, Joyce Hunter, and the Ann Arbor Rotary Club on this Tuesday, January 28th at 6:30pm.



Join us online in welcoming RI President, Stephanie Urchick who will share her vision on Peace, Membership and the Rotary Action Plan. You will have an opportunity to engage in Q and A and hear about what's new and trending in the World of Rotary.



Stephanie Urchick is a member of the Rotary Club of McMurray, Pennsylvania. She has served as a Rotary International Director and as a Rotary Foundation Trustee. As a Rotary member since 1991, Stephanie has participated in a variety of international service projects such as National Immunization Days in India and Nigeria. Her professional background is in higher education, consulting and the entertainment industry. Stephanie received her doctorate in Leadership Studies from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She has received numerous community and international awards and recognitions.

Evening Event to Package Food for Blessings in a Backpack

For those who are unavailable during the week, Shelley & Lew Lake are holding an evening opportunity for Blessings in a Backpack. This is to assist in packaging food for local students and their families in need. This is a great way to give back to our community, and we encourage as many members as possible to participate. On Monday, January 29th, we have a fantastic opportunity to support our community by volunteering with Blessings In a Backpack.

This event will give us a behind-the-scenes look at how volunteers help food-insecure students by providing them with weekend meals. We're seeking at least 9-10 Rotarians to join us in packing food for 120 students.

Event Details:

Date & Time: Wednesday January 29th, 5:30 PM

Location: 800 DeVillen Ave, Royal Oak (Enter through the far west door, Door #10)

Packing Time: We expect to wrap up in about one hour.

This is a great opportunity to see the impact of this program and assist with the essential work they do each week. Please let Shelley Lake know if you can attend and help out. [email protected]

🎄 Have you seen our very own Rotary member, Major Steve Woodward from the Royal Oak Salvation Army, in the Royal Oak News? He and his team of dedicated volunteers are restoring the iconic "Red Kettles" for this year's Red Kettle Campaign! 🎅✨

Running from November 8 to December 24, this beloved campaign helps bring support to those who may feel forgotten. Let’s make a difference this season! ❤️🎁

We had a fantastic Royal Oak Rotary Meeting today. Our guest speaker was Shelly Mazur, Manager of the Royal Oak Farmers Market. While there is a bustling farmers market every Saturday all year long , Shelly shared that the historical building is also home to weddings, an antique market and many community events such as Bourbon and Vodka Fests, Food Truck Rallies, Diversity Expo etc. The market is also home to Kal’s Lunch Bowl. A Mediterranean inspired restaurant open 6 days per week.

Our social committee is busy planning a holiday event and Blessings in a Back Pack continues to pack food for our school families in need every Wednesday at the School Board Office.

We have a Board Meeting tomorrow evening at 6:30 pm and our next regularly scheduled Club meeting is being held on Tuesday October 29 th at 12 pm at First Presbyterian in Royal Oak. Come check us out or send a message for more info and Learn how Rotary inspires “Service above Self! “😊
