Detroit’s story is bigger than the stage.

What happens when a play reflects a history that so many Detroiters lived through?

On Autotown with Jamie Butters, director Jimmie Commer III dives into Rosedale Community Players’ production of Dominique Morisseau's "Skeleton Crew" and the real Detroit history behind it.

Set in an auto stamping plant during the 2008 recession, Skeleton Crew explores more than the uncertainty facing four factory workers. It opens the door to a larger conversation about Detroit’s automotive legacy, the people whose lives were shaped by the industry, and a moment in history that left a lasting impact on our community.

Curious how the story onstage connects to our city's history? Give this conversation a listen!

Then come experience Skeleton Crew for yourself with Rosedale Community Players.

BREAKING NEWS: After 29 years on the line, Faye is closer than ever to the finish line.

Twenty-nine years of hard work. Twenty-nine years of showing up. Twenty-nine years of watching the plant, and the people in it, change.

Now, with the future of the plant uncertain, Faye has more than a job to lose. She’s working toward her 30-year anniversary and the retirement package she’s earned.

As a union representative and the unofficial voice of the crew, Faye knows what’s at stake. And she’s not about to let the people beside her face it alone.

After giving 29 years to a place, what happens when you’re not sure you’ll get to see it through?

BREAKING NEWS: The company says it’s doing everything it can to keep the plant open.

Reggie knows this plant from both sides of the line. Once a worker himself, he’s now the plant manager—and that puts him in the middle of a fight he desperately wants to win.

He believes the company is working hard to keep the doors open. But for the people who built their lives here, “working hard” may not be enough.

How do you stand between the people counting on you and the people calling the shots?
