LIVING!! on dialysis new cover photo!! Not only is Brie freaking amazing but she has become a very close dear friend to Michael Gilchrist and Christina Gilchrist. She was and is one that motivated us and made us realize that we could have this life also. I can say Brielle K. Gazzara Chirila the Dialysis Diva you are a reason Christina Gilchrist is still here and thriving. Brielle Chirila has been LIVING on dialysis for 34 years! She was born with renal reflux and was diagnosed with CKD at 11 years old. She started peritoneal dialysis when she was 12 and did pd for 4.5 years. Brielle then had to switch to in-center and had a fistula placed in her right arm which only lasted a few years. After 18 years of going three times a week to the dialysis center she switched to home hemodialysis and hasn’t looked back! Last January she had a thigh graft placed in her right leg after having her first thigh graft for over 20 years!
Brielle loves traveling with her dialysis machine! She loves to visit her brother in sunny Florida for the winters to get out of the cold Ohio weather. She has traveled to San Antonio Texas, California, Las Vegas and Ocean City, New Jersey to name a few of her favorite trips.
Brielle loves to spread the word about home hemodialysis and how it has given her so much more freedom in general life! It also helps her to feel so much better and do the activities she loves to do such as working out, walking her dog Chui and being with friends and family. Brielle even started her own pet sitting business in 2013 and is still going! She is so grateful she got the courage to make the decision to do her own dialysis at home!
