Men’s Health Month reminds us that all too often systemic barriers such as rigid gender norms that discourage help-seeking, lack of male-specific healthcare infrastructure, and socioeconomic factors like income insecurity negatively impact the health and wellbeing of men. Whittier Street Health Center is committed to breaking down barriers, closing health access gaps, and building healthier futures for the men and boys in our community.

Join us on Saturday, June 27th for our Men’s Health Summit. Participate in health screenings, take comfort in community support, and be inspired by the outstanding men’s advocates being honored this year.

This June, we stand together to raise awareness, promote brain health, and support the fight against Alzheimer’s and other dementias. More than 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s today – a number that is projected to reach 13 million by the year 2050. While there is no known cure, healthy habits like staying active, eating well, maintaining social connections, and keeping up with regular health care can help protect cognitive health.

On May 14, 2026, Whittier Street Health Center proudly celebrated the opening of our Community Garden—a space rooted in wellness, nourishment, and connection. Patients, families, and community members came together to plant, learn, and share in the joy of cultivating healthy futures.

This garden is more than just fresh produce—it’s a place for healing, education, and community building. We’re excited to watch it grow alongside the people we serve!

Whittier Street Health Center proudly celebrated AAPI Heritage Month with a vibrant and engaging event honoring the rich cultures and contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.

Our team members shared meaningful presentations representing Pakistan, Cambodia, Vietnam, and India—highlighting traditions, history, and personal stories that brought each culture to life. The celebration continued with an interactive Pakistani dance tutorial that got everyone moving, and a delicious array of food samplings from across AAPI countries that delighted every palate.

Thank you to our incredible staff for sharing your heritage and helping us foster a deeper appreciation for the diversity that strengthens our community.
