🪕 Artist Spotlight: Cathy and Marcy's Old Time Coalition 🪕

Meet the Coalition: Cathy Fink (banjo), Marcy Marxer (guitar), Rachel Eddy (fiddle), Becky Hill (dance, calling), and Em Hammond (bass). Each a leader in their own right, they've built the Coalition on twenty years of friendship and a shared love of Appalachian music and dance.

Old time music and dance are living traditions, and as Tradition Bearers the Coalition's mission is to honor what's been passed down while keeping it relevant, with new tunes, new calls, and new steps. Everyone has a place at their events, and their square dances are adapted to welcome all.

🎶 1:00-2:30 p.m. Open Jam with Catskills Old Time.
Bring your fiddle, guitar, banjo, ukulele, or mandolin. Monica-Lisa Mills and Becca Wintle will start with slow, simple tunes you can pick up by ear. If you can play an A, C, D, and G chord, you've got this!

🍲 1:00-3:00 p.m. Potluck. Bring a dish to share, trade stories about Fiddlers past, and refuel before the dancing starts.

💃 3:00-5:00 p.m. Community Square Dance. Led by Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer and their Old Time Coalition, with calling by Becky Hill. No partner or experience needed, just comfortable shoes and a willingness to move.

🎻 Artist Spotlight: Laura Cortese 🎻

Meet Laura Cortese, a fiddler, singer, and songwriter whose curiosity has carried her far from the Celtic and Scottish tunes she fell for as a kid in California. Laura has built a career on following where her adventurous spirit has led, from fronting her band The Dance Cards to traveling the world as a State Department musical ambassador. Along the way she has shared stages with Pete Seeger, Band of Horses, The Mountain Goats, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Aoife O'Donovan, and Uncle Earl. Years of exploration, collaboration, and teaching in the US and abroad have helped her develop a style that's entirely her own, with expressive fiddle sounds grounding a swirl of folk, roots, and indie pop influences.

Her new solo album, Lucky Water, out October 9th from Compass Records, is a strikingly honest exploration of identity, belonging, and change, told through the dual perspective of a mother and artist living abroad in Belgium.

Don't miss Laura Cortese live at Fiddlers! She takes the stage Sunday, October 11, at 4 p.m.

Between sets, there's plenty to do. Taste the entries in the Chili Champ Cook-off and Pie Champ Bake-off and vote for your favorite, grab a burger, hot dog, or salad donated by Freshtown in Margaretville. Browse historic RAG posters, and your last chance to enter the season-long 50/50 raffle count before tickets close at 5 p.m. (you don't need to be there for the 6 p.m. drawing to win). Also check out the workshops and community events scheduled for Saturday Oct 10!

Food sales, the contests, and the raffle all support Roxbury Arts Group, so come hungry, bring a friend, and stay for the music and community connection.

The Fiddlers! Chili Champ Cook-off and Pie Champ Bake-off are open to home cooks and bakers of every skill level, and a great way to support your local arts organization! There are still many Delaware County Arts Grant projects ongoing through the end of the year to inspire those looking to apply for the next! Check these out and see if they spark anything in you.

In partnership with Bushel Collective, Mihoko Suzuki will present ‘Ciné Sonica: 2026’, a series of film screenings with live musical accompaniment. Series #5: The Passion of Joan of Arc will be performed at Bushel 106 Main Street, Delhi, NY on Sunday, October 11. Tickets are $20, $5 for youth under 18. Tickets at bushelcollective.org/cinesonica-4.

Alex Alberto is writing ‘Small-Town Big Feelings’, a q***r romcom novel set in a fictional Catskills town and will share excerpts from the work-in-progress at a public reading on October 14th at The Carriage House in Stamford, with an audience discussion and optional written feedback to gather local input on representation.

Music on the Delaware presents ‘The Gabel 17 Piece Big Band’. The band will provide a public concert at the Walton Theatre as well as a Friday daytime concert for bussed in elementary students from 6-7 schools. In addition, the bandleader (and trombonist) along with the vocalist will provide workshops in three different schools. The Walton Theatre concert will occur on Saturday evening October 17 at 7:30 pm. Tickets available at the door and on Music on the Delaware website.

Wired & Tired, a project collaboration between Marisa Caruso, Garth Kravits, Shaye Trohaand Josh Lay, will be performed on October 24, 2026 at Wayside C***r in Andes, NY. It is one hour of subversive comedy, relentless satire, fearless joy and unlikely optimism in the form of live and video shorts about the absurdities of contemporary living within jolting technological shifts, extreme power grabs, disillusionment and the pursuit of enlightenment.

The Delaware County Arts Grant is a program of the Roxbury Arts Group made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program of the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
