The third concert of the Roxbury Concert Series was one of those concerts you don't forget.
On a Saturday afternoon, February 21st, a packed house gathered at noon and left still buzzing. The Boston Conservatory String Quartet — Sharan Leventhal, Katie Landsdale, Andrew Mark & Paul Laraia — opened with solo works by underrepresented voices, each piece a reminder of how much beauty gets overlooked in the classical canon. Then Chris Elchico led the quartet through Osvaldo Golijov's "Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind" and the room just transformed. The performance was thrilling from the first note to the last, and the audience didn't want it to end.
This is exactly what the Roxbury Concert Series was built for and we couldn't be more proud.
None of this happens without the people who believe in it. Thank you to Vivo Performing Arts for co-presenting this event, and to the Mayor's Office, the Boston Public Library, the Boston Conservatory Alumni Network, and the Fellowes Trust Fund for making accessible, world-class music in Roxbury possible.
More to come. 🎻

✨ A first Boston recital you won’t forget. ✨

These photos are from Sofia Hernández Williams’ Rising Star Concert at Roxbury Concert Studios on December 6th, an afternoon that reminded us why it’s so important to invest in the next generation of artists.

Sofia took the stage with remarkable confidence, poise, and elegance, delivering a performance full of depth, sensitivity, and artistry beyond her years. This was her first full recital in Boston, and she filled the room with a presence that held everyone from the first note to the last.

She is an exceptional young talent and one to truly keep an eye on. We’re excited to follow her journey and wish her every success in her upcoming competitions and concerts.

Proud to have provided a platform to showcase such a powerful emerging voice in classical music. 💫🎹

What an incredible start to the Roxbury Concert Series!

Yesterday’s opening concert with BIRIBA Union, co-presented by the Celebrity Series of Boston, was absolutely electrifying. The energy was off the roof — everyone was on the edge of their seat, completely engaged, and grooving with the band’s incredible fusion of styles.

The group’s charisma, creativity, and storytelling through music were unmatched. One of the highlights was the final improvised piece, where the audience provided ten random words and even the harmonic progression and the musicians turned it into something truly extraordinary. It was spontaneous, brilliant, and left us all amazed.

Huge thanks to BIRIBA Union for bringing such joy, artistry, and connection to Roxbury. What a way to begin the season!
