Join us Saturday June 13th from 1pm - 2:30pm in Arlington Vermont at the Martha Canfield Memorial Free Library for a screening of From Earth to Earth: The Lost Art of Dying in America. Following the screening there will be a Q&A with president of the board and outreach coordinator Jim Hogle. If you live in southern Vermont this is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the process of natural burial, meet fellow natural burial advocates and ask any questions you may have.

We are thrilled to announce that the Cottage for Connection has been fully funded!!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are humbled by the outpouring of generosity from our community. For the past two years we have been dreaming of this cottage in the heart of the forest. That it would hold space for families and mourners to gather before their burial ceremony with their loved one, for hikers and walkers to reflect and recharge, for our Dirt Campers to learn about the natural world and to create another area of soft refuge under our canopy. Because of your support, this dream is now a reality. Whether you made a donation, reposted our fundraiser or shared with a neighbor - every action has been a gift! Thank you!

We cannot wait to update you all when the cottage arrives and we look forward to hosting you for many events to come inside it!

It's leaf out at the cemetery!

It's already hard to remember what the forest looked like without fresh leaves just weeks ago. Now the cemetery is bathed in the vibrant lime green of fresh foliage. Every leaf that you see in this picture has been nourished and sustained by those who have chosen to give their body back to the earth. They shelter us from the wind and the rain and provide soft shade in the heat of high summer. If you haven't yet visited during this transitional season, we encourage you to bring your bug spray and stop by! We are open every day from dawn to dusk.

Now is the chance to join the VFC team!

At VFC our small staff works together to make sure families and mourners have the opportunity to experience a deeply meaningful burial for their loved one. As our operation continues to grow we are in need of a talented administrator to help us stay organized and manage the behind the scenes that make VFC possible. If you’ve always wanted a job that makes a real difference in people’s lives and support our natural communities while letting your accounting and event planning skills shine, this is the role for you. If you or someone you know would be interested in this role please send a cover letter and resume to Jim Hogle at [email protected].

🌲Calling All Forest Stewards! Join us for our first Cemetery Stewardship Day of the 2026 season on Saturday May 30th from 10am - 4pm. We'll be focusing on clearing and mulching trails, setting up tents for the summer season for families and mourners and cleaning up the last bit of winter operations. Looking the weather, the rain should pass before we get started and the cooler temperature will help keep the bugs at bay! Whether you're passionate about preserving nature or enjoy outdoor activities, your efforts will make a meaningful impact.
