Good Morning, Facebook & NexGen Family!

I was talking with some of our seasoned locals recently about how football is missing for the youth of Person County and Roxboro. Too often, our kids step onto a middle or high school field having never played organized football.

They’re talented – we’ve got basketball players, soccer players, and baseball players – but when it comes to football, all they can bring to the field is raw speed and strength. Coaches are left with only a couple of months to teach these kids the game and prepare them for a season. The outcome always depends on structure and discipline, and without early training, it’s an uphill battle.

That’s why we at NexGen are passionate about changing the narrative.
Our goal is to provide 4th-6th graders who love the game a place to learn, develop, and truly understand football – not just in the city of Roxboro, but throughout all of Person County.

Football teaches teamwork, discipline, and resilience – and it’s time we give our kids the opportunity to build those skills early. Together, we can create a program that prepares our youth for success both on and off the field.

Let’s change the game for our kids. 💪🏈

It was a beautiful hot day first day camp. I met some great young athletes and good prospects for the season moving forward thanks to Parks And Rec. We got a chance to meet some of these great kids. Looking forward to the weeks ahead of camp.

Hi, my name is Rufus Long, Program Director of NexGEN Leaders Initiative, a youth mentorship program based in Roxboro, NC. We’re on a mission to empower young athletes through sports, teamwork, and leadership—and right now, we need your help.

We’re raising funds to purchase essential football equipment like helmets, shoulder pads, jerseys, and more for our upcoming season. Many of our athletes come from underserved communities and don’t have access to the proper gear they need to play safely and confidently.
