The Person Veterans Council invites our community to come together as we honor and celebrate the men and women who have served our country!

We've got several special events planned throughout the week, beginning Friday, November 6th. From our Veterans Day Parade and Banquet to our Veterans Day Ceremony and more, there's something for everyone!

26 years ago today, the USS Cole (DDG-67) was attacked by su***de bombers while moored in Yemen. 17 United States sailors died serving our country during "peace time." We remember the families of the 17 lost, as well as their shipmates. Also, remember our service members deployed around the globe.

Early voting in North Carolina begins October 15 and runs through October 31. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. All the veterans we represent served to ensure your right to vote. Your responsibility as a citizen is to exercise this right. That is the best way to honor everyone who has honorably served in the United States military.

It seems every election cycle we are bombarded with messages that this is the most important election of our lifetime. Truth be told, every election is the most important election of our lifetime. The best way to honor those who have served and died to protect our freedoms is to exercise the most precious of those freedoms.

We are extremely blessed to live in a community that supports our veterans. A huge thank you to the employees at Duke Energy Mayo Plant. There are a lot of worthy causes in Person and the surrounding counties, and they chose us as one of the recipients of their blessings. This will help fund our annual banquet and keep it free for our local veterans.

The Person County/City of Roxboro First Responder Memorial is lit up red tonight in honor and memory of Durham Fire Department Firefighter Andrew Brokes who gave the ultimate sacrifice today. Please keep his family, the Durham Fire Department members and all first responders in your prayers during this difficult time. The First Responder Memorial will stay red until Firefighter Brokes service.
