It’s with a heavy heart that we share the passing of one of our own, William “Bill” Wright.

Bill was the kind of person who showed up when it mattered most. His dedication to his family was unwavering, and his commitment to giving back to the City of Rowlett, through Rowlett Strong, he worked tirelessly to support our first responders and strengthen the community he cared so deeply about.

He will be truly missed, but his impact will not be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

10-yr Remembrance Ceremony starting.

Most of our followers know that Rowlett Strong, Inc was formed to raise funds for people who needed some extra help after the Christmas tornado of December 26th, 2015.

Well we're coming up on the 10-year anniversary of that horrible event. As you might imagine, it has attracted some media attention. We have been asked to check with affected residents to see if anyone would like to speak about their experience 10 years later for a report on Channel 4.

Channel 4, of all the Dallas-Fort Worth media, was the one that devoted the most time to coverage of the catastrophic destruction and subsequent recovery after that event. It's only natural to want to revisit it and maybe check on a few people to see how they're doing. That's one of the reasons the city is doing its remembrance event on Friday.

We realize that most affected residents would prefer that this event just stay in the rearview mirror. But understanding how people can recover and come out of a tragic situation intact can be helpful to others. If you lost your home in the Christmas Tornado and you're willing to be interviewed, please private message us. This will happen on Friday, and we'll give you the time and the place.
