A heartfelt thank you to Pamela Isaac and her wonderful family for suggesting Adventures for Autistic Adults meet for lunch at Rainforest Cafe in Grapevine when the weather forced us to cancel our planned activity (again).

From the fun atmosphere and delicious food to the laughter shared around the tables, it was a day our group truly enjoyed. Your kindness and generosity continue to help us create memories that meant so much to all of us.

We are incredibly grateful for friends and families who continue to support our members and help make these experiences possible. Thank you for blessing our group with such a wonderful afternoon!

Adventures for Autistic Adults celebrated TWO very special birthdays this week with a Double Birthday Party for Justin and Ebby!

We headed to our favorite bowling spot, PINSTACK, for an afternoon full of laughter, cupcakes, ice cream, friendly competition, and lots of fun with friends. We celebrated Justin turning 28 and Ebby turning 30 surrounded by people who made the day special.

Both birthday guys were showered with thoughtful gifts from their friends- T-shirts, toys, and enough gift cards to keep the celebrations going! Justin was having way too much fun socializing to worry much about his bowling score, but Ebby ended the day with an amazing accomplishment by breaking 100 in his final game!

Moments like these are what A3 is all about...Friendship, encouragement, celebration, and making memories together!

A very special thank you to all of our families for helping make this such a wonderful and meaningful day for Justin and Ebby. We appreciate every one of you more than you know. ❤️

I truly hope you enjoy the gifts your loved ones created for you as much as they enjoyed making them. Watching our members laugh, create, and put their hearts into these projects is always such a special reminder of the love they carry for the people who support them every day.

I also want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to each and every one of you. Thank you for trusting me and allowing me to be a small part of your lives. It is a privilege to spend time with your family members, to share in their accomplishments, friendships, creativity, and growth, and hopefully help enrich not only their lives, but yours as well.

This group means so much to me, and the connections we share are truly something special. I love you all and appreciate your continued support more than words can say.

Wishing you a beautiful, peaceful, and love-filled Mother’s Day!

Our Cinco de Mayo flower-making class was a huge success! The creativity and effort everyone put in really showed—each flower turned out absolutely beautiful and unique in its own way.

Also pictured are two of our BINGO winners from Monday—congratulations to all of our winners! We love celebrating both creativity and a little friendly competition with this amazing group.

As always, everything is more fun when we’re together!

Adventures for Autistic Adults checked out another indoor fun park this week — 11 Max in Farmers Branch!

For some of our group, the classics were the biggest hit. Austen and Aniyah were perfectly happy bouncing between the slides and trampolines, and Logan, Harry, and Ebby agreed that sometimes you just can’t beat a good jump session.

But 11 Max also had some challenges we hadn’t seen on our previous adventures. Red, Nick, and Justin jumped right in and mastered the Mechanical Bull and the Wall Obstacle Course, even turning it into a friendly competition to see who could get the best time. They also had a lot of fun at the Giant Pin Wall, making full-body impressions and seeing who could create the most interesting shapes.

One of the things we love about these outings is seeing everyone explore new experiences at their own pace. For many autistic adults, trying something unfamiliar can feel intimidating at first, but with supportive friends and a welcoming environment, those new experiences often turn into moments of confidence, laughter, and pride.

Overall, it was a great adventure and a great day with friends.

Tuesday Adventures for Autistic Adults enjoyed a beautiful day exploring the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary in McKinney. The Heard is always an interesting place to visit with its indoor exhibits and gorgeous nature trails, but today our group had their sights set on something a little more mythical… Dragons!

Along one of the winding trails, animatronic dragons and other legendary creatures lined our path. Each one had a plaque explaining its name and origin, which made it even more fun to stop, look, and learn a little about these fascinating creatures from stories and folklore.

We were also happy to welcome a new member, Jamie, who joined us for the adventure. He seemed to really enjoy being part of the group, and it was great getting to spend time together.

Of course, no outing is complete without a quick snack break, so we paused for a little conversation and refreshments before heading back home.

It was a beautiful day outside, and as always, everything is a little more fun when you experience it with friends.

At Adventures for Autistic Adults, we believe in creating spaces where everyone can feel welcome and celebrated in their own way. This week we celebrated Easter… twice!

On April 2, during our monthly craft event, members painted beautiful Suncatcher Crosses and assembled small Glitter Globes representing Jesus’ resurrection. It was a peaceful and creative afternoon that allowed participants to reflect and express their faith through art.

Then on April 3, we gathered at Acacia Collective, a wonderful venue here in Rowlett that we occasionally use, for a lighter and playful celebration. We watched It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown!, wore our bunny ears, colored Easter art, and even built foam “Gingerbread Bunny Houses.”

Everyone went home with a tote bag full of candy-filled eggs and their creations from the day.

I always try to keep our group open and welcoming to everyone, and sometimes that means walking a bit of a fine line to make sure all our members feel comfortable and included. I think this week showed just how beautifully our group can embrace different ways of celebrating.

And as always, the smiles, creativity, and friendships made along the way are what make A3 so special.

Celebrating Ryan’s birthday with our Adventures for Autistic Adults group was extra special this week! 🎉 Ryan and his friends gathered around the Farkle table (with Becky keeping the game going), and as always there was plenty of laughter, friendly competition, and birthday fun.

What made this celebration different for me was that I actually got to sit down and play dominoes with the group for a while. Usually I’m running around making sure everyone is taken care of, helping our Uno players stay on task, and keeping things moving. But this time we just had Dominoes and Farkle, and it gave me the chance to really participate.

I got to help Ian and Ebby play with the rest of the group, and I was so impressed with what I saw. Ian played independently with only a reminder when it was his turn. Ebby needed a little more help as I pointed out his options and let him choose the matching domino, but he did a great job making his own decisions.

Seeing this level of independence was wonderful. One of the goals of Adventures for Autistic Adults has always been helping our members build confidence, independence, and decision-making skills. Sometimes I’m so busy organizing everything that I don’t always get to sit back and see those moments up close.

Ryan’s birthday turned out to be the perfect reminder of how far everyone has come. I’m so proud of all of our members and the friendships they continue to build together. 💙

And of course… Happy Birthday, Ryan! We’re so glad you celebrate with your A3 friends each year.

Ever heard of " Poke Art"? Neither had we, but our members took to it immediately. It's very therapeutic. Small pieces of cloth are poked through a design with a small, pointed stick to create colorful patterns.

This activity allowed our members to work very independently, follow instruction and learn just how much pressure to use with the project. It takes some thought and fine motor skills to accomplish the finished piece.

We chose some simple preprinted images to get acquainted with the technique, but I am hoping to find some more intricate designs or maybe figure out how to create our own!
