The most beautiful aspect of the CenterPeace Conference has always been the community. Bringing people together from all over the globe with one main commonality - a deep and abiding love for Jesus. A desire to hold onto the faith that has shaped and sustained us. And a need for connection with fellow LGBTQ Christians and allies who love and affirm us.

At a beautiful ranch out in the middle of nowhere this past weekend, thirty of us gathered for a beautiful Tapestry retreat. Justin Lee brought his husband Michael, and served as our teacher for the weekend, focusing on “redeeming Scripture.” When the Bible has more often been used as a weapon against LGBTQ people, it’s crucial to spend time exploring all of the positive passages that speak directly about God’s never ending love for us and our place within the Body of Christ. It was beautiful to watch our very diverse group being turned on to the stories of the Bible that speak to our experience as LGBTQ Christians. And having Nathan and David leading us in worship was icing on the cake!

In addition to feeding our souls, Matt and Chris and Nathan took care of preparing meals and constant snacks for us. And Marisa made sure everything else happened!

After 15 years of Tapestry spiritual formation retreats, it doesn’t seem possible that they could get any better. But each one surprises us in the sweetest ways. Thank you, friends, for a most encouraging weekend!
