Rowe Center

Rowe Center We are a mission driven 501(c)(3) organization. Come Visit! Founded in 1924,

Unitarian Universalist Rowe Camp and Conference Center (DBA The Rowe Center) offers summer recreational youth camps, Spring and Fall Adult Programs on site and online programs year round. The Rowe Center is a magical place cherished by the thousands of people who have come here for relaxation, education, community, spiritual nurturance, and love. There is a special spirit here of honesty, creativi

ty, and respect that people rarely find in other parts of their lives. Rowe offers a wide variety of opportunities for the exchange of spiritual and educational ideas and beliefs consistent with Unitarian Universalist principles and values. Our purpose is to help people make better sense of their lives and help them make their world a better place in which to live. Our mission is to provide opportunities for people to explore diverse, far-reaching subjects in order to learn about themselves, each other, our cultures and the earth, and go forth with new knowledge, insight, and courage. We do this by offering, in a safe and supportive environment, camp and conference programs that touch people's depths and have a lasting effect.

Rowe has been a place of belonging, growth, and transformation for generations. Many of us carry its Spirit with us long after we leave the hill, and some of us have wondered what it might look like to carry Rowe forward in a more lasting way.

We’re excited to invite you to Legacy Planning for the Rowe Community, a workshop designed to open that conversation in an accessible way. Register on our website today!

Homecoming Weekend (June 19–21) is exactly what it sounds like — a relaxed, joyful return to the place and people you love. No agenda. No formal meetings. Just swimming in the lake, singing together, sharing meals, dancing under the stars, and finding your people.

Whether you’re a longtime camper, a former staff member, a conferee, program attendee, or someone who’s always wanted to experience Rowe for the first time — all are welcome.

Introducing the 2026 Young People’s Camp Co-Directors, Jay Blanchette, Max Solomon-Frye, and Jordan Walker.

Jay is co-director for both YPC 1 & 2 this year, and is thrilled to be returning to this role for their 3rd consecutive Summer! Jay is a lover of the outdoors and is looking forward to getting campers as much enriching time in nature as possible! During the rest of the year Jay works at Leverett Elementary School, helping to educating the lower grades, and is an MLIS student finishing up their degree. They can’t wait to see you and your campers for another incredible summer at YPC!

Max started as a Junior High camper back in 2014, and has been coming back to Rowe ever since! This summer, Max is excited to return for his third year as a Co-Director at Young People’s Camp 1. He graduated from Hampshire College with a focus on Childhood studies and Education, and spent the last four years as an afterschool program Director. Max recently transitioned into non-profit work where he helps his community members have access and education to fair housing. Max credits Rowe with his unique brand of silliness that is rooted in his commitment to making the world a better place!

Jordan is incredibly excited to be returning to Rowe this summer as Co-Director. Rowe has always held a special place in Jordan’s heart, and it means so much to come back in this new role and be part of such a meaningful community. Camp has been a big part of Jordan’s life — both as a camper and as a staff member. Jordan is passionate about creating a fun, supportive, and safe environment where every camper feels seen, valued, and excited to be themselves.

Introducing the 2026 JHC Co-Directors Bear Hirsch and Noah Walker!

A New Jersey native living in Brooklyn, Bear is delighted to be returning to JHC this summer as a Co-Director before beginning her studies at Union Theological Seminary. Bear brings three years of Rowe Camp staff experience to the role, as well as a plethora of youth work from her daily life. Bear is a graduate of Bard, where she organized for on-campus labor rights, and worked as a tutor for neuro-atypical children. Most recently, Bear has worked as a substitute teacher for the NYC school system, and as a youth curriculum director for a Synagogue in Brooklyn. Bear is passionate about making camp a safe space for all youth, and is overjoyed to be helping create the magic that is Junior High Camp this summer. When she isn’t working, Bear likes to read, cook, and lift weights- any of which she’ll talk your ear off if you give her the chance.

Noah is thrilled to be returning to Junior High Camp in the CoDirector role for 2026! Noah began attending Rowe in 2004 as a camper and graduated to a staff role in 2014. Noah is one of the only directors this summer who attended our full range of camps as a youth: YPC, JHC and SHC! Noah’s last year on staff was 2021, and is looking forward to bringing his skills back to Rowe this Summer. For the last three years, Noah has been working with local kids as a New York State Mentor in Binghamton, where he currently resides. Outside of his youth work, Noah is a jack of all trades; spending many years as a professional Magic: The Gathering player, and currently working in busy world of food service. At Camp, Noah is known for creating long-lasting community bonds in cabins, leading meaningful Chapels, and helping facilitate intricate camp games. Outside of camp, Noah spends time with his friends and family (and pets!), going to the gym and playing music!

Introducing the SHC 2026 Co-Directors: Sydney Thompson and Luna Gayeski!

Sydney has been a Rowie since she was a Junior High camper in 2008. Growing up at camp taught her how to build intentional community, incorporate play into her everyday life, and truly value the inherent worth and dignity of every person. In 2018 she graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with her Master’s in Women’s History with a focus on adolescent s*x education in the United States, reinforcing her deep empathy for the challenges that come with being a teenager. She lives in Colorado where she spends as much time as possible outside in the mountain air. She hopes to use her position as Senior High Camp Co-Director to continue the tradition of helping young people understand just how much they matter.

Luna brings years of experience in community-based youth work to their third year as SHC Co-Director. Across roles in education, clinical care, and peer support, they’ve built environments rooted in connection, creativity, and care. At Prevention Ed, they use student-driven pedagogy to deliver evidence-based, harm-reduction focused substance use and addiction programming for high school students around the world. At The Mazzoni Center in Philadelphia, they worked as an HIV Medical Case Manager conducting behavioral interventions with individuals in high-risk environments. Through managing a nationwide Peer Support Group Program at Plume Clinic, Luna deepened their expertise in group dynamics and active listening. Luna is a Master’s candidate at the Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research and an alum of Drexel University’s Behavioral Health Counseling program. Their passion for youth work is driven by the countless transformative experiences they’ve witnessed at SHC and their reverence for the unique growth opportunities we experience in adolescence.
