Ever ask yourself, “If I’m really following Jesus… why do I still struggle like this?”
Yeah. Same. 😅

This Sunday, we’re continuing our Our Identity in Christ series with a message called “Saints Who Still Struggle.” We’ll talk honestly about the tension of being fully forgiven in Christ while still fighting sin—and why that tension isn’t failure, it’s sanctification.

From 1 Corinthians 1, Colossians 3, and Philippians 1:6, we’ll see why the gospel starts with identity before effort—and how grace doesn’t weaken holiness, it fuels it.

You are not a sinner trying to become a saint.
You are a saint learning how to live.

Join us this Sunday—and feel free to invite someone who loves Jesus but is tired of beating themselves up (again… all of us).

Most people don’t struggle with having an identity.
They struggle with carrying the wrong one.

This Sunday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, we’re starting a new message from Romans 6 called “A New Identity: In Christ.” We’ll talk about why performance, approval, and even past pain make terrible places to build your life—and what it actually means to live from grace instead of constantly striving for it.

If you’ve ever felt:
• forgiven but not free
• saved but not secure
• loved by God but still low-key hiding

…this one’s for you.

What comes to mind when you think about God’s will?

For many of us, it sounds like surrendering everything we enjoy, suppressing who we are, and hoping that obedience somehow works out in the end. But what if God’s will isn’t about erasing you… But redeeming you?

In this message, I talk about the tension between God’s sovereignty and our responsibility—and why Scripture never asks us to choose between obedience and identity. God didn’t accidentally make you you.

Through Scripture and personal story, I share three phases of my life, how God uses suffering without wasting it, and why His plans often line up with how He fearfully and wonderfully made us.

This message also reflects on a major transition for my family and our church—looking back with deep gratitude and forward with trust in God’s faithfulness.

And then the question turns to you:
• What’s your “baseball”?
• Who’s in your support system?
• What interest, quirk, or part of your story might God use to help others find Jesus?

(Yes, even that part.)

📖 Romans 8:28 | Psalm 139:14 | Ephesians 2:10

If you’re in a season of transition—or wondering whether God’s will requires you to become someone else—this message is for you.

We’ve been asked to serve the family of Darlene Weigum, who recently passed away. They’re planning a memorial service on Friday, December 5th, and have requested that Emmanuel Baptist Church provide a meal afterward, around 12:30–1:00 pm.

Some of you may remember Frank Weigum and his siblings faithfully riding the church bus for years. This is an opportunity to bless their family and show Christ’s love in a very tangible way.

If you’d be willing to help provide the meal for the Weigum family, please let me know.
