Black Americans are disproportionately affected by kidney failure, with a risk nearly four times higher than White Americans. Despite representing approximately 13% of the U.S. population, they make up about 35% of patients with kidney failure. Key factors driving this disparity include higher rates of diabetes and hypertension, along with social determinants of health and potential genetic factors.

For more information on the initiatives working to address these disparities, you can explore the National Kidney Foundation and the Black K.A.R.E. program.
