Congratulations to Round Rock Fire Foundation Executive Director Diedra Brownell and National Spouse Conference Director Sarah Talley on being featured in the Amazon bestselling book Luminaries: Women Leaders Who Light the Way!

Diedra and Sarah are two of 13 women whose stories are featured in Luminaries, which recently earned Amazon bestseller status.

Their chapters reflect two unique journeys that have shaped the Foundation’s work. Diedra shares the story behind the founding of the Round Rock Fire Foundation following the loss of her daughter, Bailey, and the experiences that continue to guide its purpose. Sarah shares her journey from attending a firefighter spouse conference to leading the Round Rock Fire Foundation’s National Spouse Conference, helping strengthen support for fire families.

Together, their stories offer readers a perspective on leadership, resilience, and the people who answer the calls alongside the families who support them.

Please join us in congratulating Diedra and Sarah on this exciting milestone.

Answering the call for Texas! 🚨 💪

Through the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS), Round Rock Fire Department has activated and deployed personnel to support the severe weather response in the San Antonio area. Meanwhile, our staffing and emergency response capabilities here in Round Rock remain fully intact.

Please keep our deployed personnel, all state first responders and the communities in the path of flooding and severe weather in your thoughts. The Central Texas area remains under a Flood Watch through tomorrow evening, so be sure to stay weather-aware! If you see water over a roadway, turn around.

“We strive for 30 and 30. Thirty years of service and 30 years of happy retirement.”
— Battalion Chief John Collins, Round Rock Fire Department

RRFD’s Battalion Chief John Collins is a prominent advocate for firefighter wellness and health. He is best known in the firefighting community for developing the "30 and 30" strategy, famously featured in CRACKYL Magazine, the leading fire health, wellness and lifestyle magazine.

The "30 and 30" framework stands for 30 years of service and 30 years of retirement, emphasizing that clean, decontaminated gear and proper health measures are essential to ensuring firefighters live long, healthy lives after their careers.

His work with CRACKYL highlights actionable ways to reduce toxic exposure and emphasizes that clean gear is fundamentally about making sure firefighters are around to enjoy their retirement.

At the Round Rock Fire Foundation, supporting firefighters means supporting their health, safety, and well-being—on and off the fireground. We’re proud to see Chief Collins helping advance that conversation and sharing his knowledge with firefighters across the country.

Congratulations, Chief Collins, on this well-deserved recognition.
