What’s in a Name
The annual Ron Morrison Car Thing event celebrates the life of Ron Morrison, our community’s beloved Williamson County Commissioner, who passed away in September 2016 after a long battle with prostate cancer. Ron was a lifetime Round Rock resident known for his keen sense of humor, hard work and dedication to the community he loved. Throughout his life, he strove to serve the Round Rock community in any way possible: as a Round Rock High School teacher, a co-operator of Morrison Auto with his wife and three terms as the Williamson County Commissioner.
The event also serves to support the Rotary Club of Round Rock and the mission of the Rotary Foundation - to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty - by benefiting several local Round Rock charities: The YMCA of Williamson County, Agape Pregnancy Resource Center, Round Rock Partners in Education and The Serving Center of Round Rock. Proceeds from the event go directly to supporting these four charities and four additional scholarships supporting students enrolled in ACC and the University of Texas.
