Yesterday, Footsport Academy at East View High School in Georgetown, had a double-digit turnout for . Not bad for a sport that these students didnt even know about a few weeks ago! Male and female athletes from several different sports are returning week after week to test their athleticism and measure their progress! Good times!

I'm approaching 45 years old. I haven't tried to perform a roll spike (landing on my feet) on a hanging ball in more than 8 years. Is it time to start trying again?

Today, I gave it some serious thought . . .

For to grow sustainably in the United States, we have to expose students to the game and provide consistent opportunities for those students to experience the benefits it offers. I'm doing my part in Georgetown, Texas at East View High school, where I've started an after school footsports academy to teach the fundamentals of global kicking sports and foster weekly game play. I hope to post more pictures soon (but that sort of thing requires parent permission;) ).

Still here . . .

A few exciting projects happening lately :)

*Participated in a high school carnival where I introduced and soccer tennis to the students in attendance.

*Footsport Academy, my after-school club, will have its first meet up this Wednesday!

* I played with some new friends in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. They play each Sunday and have invited me to return any time!

ALERT: Catastrophic flood on the Nepal-Tibet border. At least 384 people have been reported missing after an ice-rock avalanche on the Lhende Khola river in Nepal triggered massive flash flooding that washed away villages and project sites in a region bordering Tibet on August 26. Heavy casualties are expected as officials urge people living on river banks to seek higher ground. Sending GOOD VIBES out to our families of Nepal, India, Malaysia, and S. Korea who currently have missing citizens in the affected region. And also to those in Bihar, India, be on the lookout for a second flood, since a blockage is still ‌lodged upstream on the Lhende Khola river!

Walt Houston spiking on True Anthony Cha and Kerr Cha in their semi-final match.

Walt and his partner, Benjamin Alston, advanced to the finals while Ker and Anthony went on to claim 3rd place by beating a German team.

Not a bad first attempt at the sport of footbag net!

This ruling just affirms not to take ISTAF seriously anymore. If they wanted to END walkouts or refusals to play (which NEVER result from decisions by the players), they would penalize the coaching/management/association ONLY, and do it in a MUCH LARGER way than just $50,000USD. Try $250,000USD.

Players are like soldiers. They do what they are told. They cannot disobey their coaching staff, which put them in an impossible position when a coach and a referee give conflicting directives.

Bad management = bad result.

Trying to do a sunback spike with a small footbag is quite difficult. Precision is required. Here, Ker Cha has already landed on the ground as he makes contact with the ball. This attempt was more about getting it in play than about kicking powerfully. Also shown here, his brother, True Anthony Cha, hits a nice slap with his sole.
