Dear International Sepaktakraw Lovers,

Life in the United States right now is unusually scary, both if you are "a person of color" or a "white person." The artic weather has half of our country stuck indoors (the South) and, for those of us who can move freely, ICE roaming our cities and acting like a secret police force is keeping many people on edge.

That being said, as far as I know, all USA Sepaktakraw players are currently safe at this time. Many players are feeling scared to lead their normal lives (since people of color seem to be getting targeted) even though they are legal residents or even US Citizens.

STAY SAFE, stay close to those you love, and DON'T TAKE UNNECESSARY RISKS until life calms down!

Feel free to leave comments or questions for the USA takraw community below. Peace and love!

Wow, what happened to Thailand's sepaktakraw dominance? They are getting beaten in their own country!

A few quick words to express my thoughts about the untimely passing of Sepaktakraw India's leader, Mr. Yogi Singh Dahiya. I didn't know him well, and I had only a few opportunities to speak with him at length, but he always struck me as a person whose conviction in his own beliefs was stronger than anything you could throw at him. He was intelligent, hard working, successful, and willing to risk everything to advance what he cared about. And it was clear that he cared a LOT about sepaktakraw. His emotions and his actions during several international competitions, not unlike my own, showed just how important it was that his country reachnits potential on the international stage. The small world of sepaktakraw, and especially SepakTakraw India will miss him dearly.

The barriers for Thai athletes to compete Malaysian competitions such as STL . . .

The barriers for Thai athletes to compete Malaysian competitions such as STL . . .

1️⃣ Mengambil cuti rasmi (cuti tahunan)

Saya ingin menegaskan sekali lagi —

For clarity and better understanding

I would like to address the issue regarding the participation of Thai athletes in Sepak Takraw tournaments in Malaysia. There have been claims that all athletes can easily go and play in Malaysia, but this is not true.

In reality, playing in Malaysia is not something that can be done easily—especially for athletes who are government officials. According to Thai law, government officials cannot freely leave the country. There are only two legal ways for them:
1️⃣ Taking official leave (annual leave)
2️⃣ Resigning from government service to compete

Therefore, if carefully observed, only a small number of athletes who are government officials have ever played in Malaysia, and even then, only for a short period of time because they rely on annual leave and cannot stay long-term.

Furthermore, some government officials have tried to find a way by commuting back and forth between Thailand and Malaysia. However, this method forces them to bear very high travel costs and also exposes them to safety risks. Many who attempted this approach could not sustain it—most managed to play only for 1–2 years, after which they could no longer participate in tournaments.

In summary, Thai athletes who can genuinely play in Malaysia fall into three main groups:
1. Students
2. Government officials who take leave to compete
3. Those who are not government employees, or full-time professional athletes

At present, both Leagues and Tournaments in Malaysia are becoming increasingly popular in Thailand. Therefore, participation in Malaysian competitions must be done legally and according to the correct procedures, to prevent problems in the future.

✨ In my own case, when I had the opportunity to play in the Malaysian league, it was because I had just resigned from the military and was beginning a new career path in Ratchaburi. After that, I devoted more time to working with the club and the community in Ratchaburi. I share this so that everyone understands that the participation of Thai athletes in international tournaments must align with the culture, laws, and working systems of Thailand, which may differ from what many people assume.

My role is only to assist with inquiries and coordination. I cannot give a 100% guarantee whether an athlete can go or not, because each individual has different responsibilities and commitments.

If anyone uses my name or claims that they can certainly bring well-known athletes—especially those still working as government officials—to play in Malaysia, please do not believe it. This is a matter of law, not my personal decision.

Another point I would like to share with fans is how strongly we support competitions in Malaysia. When Ratchaburi Takraw Club had the opportunity to participate in the Champions Cup in Malaysia, every step was carried out legally and correctly through the Sepak Takraw Association of Thailand. This proves that our work is real, verifiable, and conducted systematically.

Ratchaburi Takraw Club was established in 2012 and is now 13 years old. We conduct training throughout the year, are registered as a company, pay taxes properly, and operate professionally as a full-time sports club.

Most importantly, when we competed in the Champions Cup, the club covered all expenses itself—including airfare, meals, and media team costs—so that Thai athletes and people could truly witness the greatness of the STL.

👉 By doing everything properly and lawfully, I hope this can serve as a good example, so that in the future, more Thai athletes can compete in Malaysia more easily, in an organized, and sustainable way.

I would like to emphasize once again —
I have never prohibited any athlete from competing in Malaysia. On the contrary, I have always supported both the leagues and tournaments in Malaysia.

These are the real facts, so that everyone can clearly understand.
