Canines 4 Comfort

10/13/2026

Today the Canines 4 Comfort crew headed over to McHenry County College for “Coffee & Comfort,” and we couldn’t have asked for a warmer welcome. 🐾☕

Jake, Elwood, Pickles, and Caine—along with our dogs-in-training, Cash and Daisy—stepped right into duty providing unconditional love, belly rubs, and a much-needed breather for students and staff tackling midterms. Cash and Daisy fit right in alongside the seasoned crew, showing off their solid training and delivering those perfect comforting vibes.

Thank you to everyone at MCC who stopped by for pets, shared their stories, and recharged with our pack. Good luck on midterms—you’ve got this! 💙✨

This weekend was almost as lovely as last weekend, when we gathered for our final fundraiser of the year, Strut Your Mutt.

Thanks to our wonderful community, we raised over $2,300. The timing truly couldn't be better, as several of our dogs have either just had or will soon be heading in for their spay and neuter surgeries.

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to walk, picked up a treat at the bake sale, bought raffle tickets, and spent time with our dogs. We hope you enjoyed the caricature artist, the frisbee demo, and the lunch provided by our kind friends at Starbucks.

We've shared the full photo album in the comments below! We are so grateful for your continued support and kindness.

Happy Birthday to our board member, Becky! 🐾🎂

Becky’s journey with Canines 4 Comfort started with raising puppies, and she and her family haven't slowed down since. They are still actively opening their home to our pups and have officially raised over ten future service and facility dogs for our mission!

Along the way, Becky has stepped up wherever we’ve needed her—bringing great energy as our auctioneer and helping shape our path forward on the Board of Directors. We are so grateful for the love, time, and dedication she and her family give to our dogs and our community.

Please join all of us at C4C in wishing Becky a wonderful birthday! Drop a birthday note for her in the comments below! 🐶🎉

It’s Fire Prevention Week, making it the perfect time to give a huge shout-out to our local fire departments and the incredible four-legged team members who serve alongside them!

While our firefighters are out teaching vital fire safety skills and protecting our communities around the clock, facility dogs like Macki with the Waukegan Fire Department and Chester with the Libertyville Fire Department bring an entirely different, powerful kind of service to the station and beyond.

These amazing dogs do so much more than just brighten someone's day. They provide essential comfort and mental wellness support for the first responders who face stressful, high-pressure calls every shift. Out in the community, they serve as gentle, grounding ambassadors—visiting local schools, comforting families during challenging moments, and helping make safety education feel welcoming and approachable for kids and adults alike.

A big thank you to the Waukegan and Libertyville fire departments for everything you do to keep us safe, and to Macki and Chester for offering steady support, soft ears to lean on, and unconditional comfort right when it's needed most. Happy Fire Prevention Week!

Our hearts (and tails!) are wagging with gratitude this ! 🐾❤️

We are honored to share that Canines 4 Comfort has been selected by Highland Middle School in Libertyville as their Charity of Choice!

The Highland Hornets welcomed representatives and dogs from Canines 4 Comfort to present to students and staff about our mission, how our dogs are trained, and how their support directly funds the care, training, and placement of our psychiatric service and facility dogs.

Thank you, Highland Hornets, for opening your doors and supporting our dogs and the community we serve! Please join us in showing Highland Middle School some big love in the comments! 👇🐝✨

As September wraps up, a huge thank you to everyone who followed along to learn more about our service dogs and the impact they have on mental health and wellness. 🐾

We loved introducing you to some of our teams! While we didn’t feature every dog—we always respect the personal privacy and comfort of our handlers—they are all doing amazing work out in the world every single day.

Canines 4 Comfort is 100% volunteer-powered, and it truly takes a village to make these partnerships possible.

If you’d like to support our mission:
🙋 Volunteer: We’re looking for host families to welcome a pup and bring them to training classes, as well as helpers for community events.
💖 Donate: Fund essential care, training gear, and veterinary expenses.
👉 Visit our website in bio to donate or get involved!

Thank you for cheering on our dogs, our handlers, and our mission! 💛
