Nicasa Behavioral Health Services Our mission is to transform one life at a time through our behavioral health and social services.

Nicasa’s seven Lake County locations include: Bridge House – a halfway recovery home for adults; Judy H. Fried Center – a Family Advocacy Center and outpatient treatment facility in North Chicago; an administrative, prevention, and counseling center in Round Lake; a counseling and prevention facility located in Waukegan; and counseling facilities in Highland Park and Zion. Nicasa provides direct services to approximately 4,000 individuals annually and reaches thousands more through our extensive prevention services. Nicasa is committed to providing quality, compassionate services, in English and Spanish, to those in need regardless of race, age, gender, or economic status.

In the latest episode of Before the Bet: The Tech, Trends & Truths Behind Modern Gambling, Elizabeth Thielen is joined by Becca Vykydal of the Illinois Lottery and Ivan Fernandez of the Illinois Gaming Machine Operators Association for a conversation about responsible gambling and the work being done to promote safer, more informed play.

As technology changes how people encounter gambling, new questions emerge about advertising, accessibility, youth exposure, and risks that may go unnoticed among older adults. Understanding these challenges is an important part of building awareness and having meaningful conversations about gambling-related harm.

Nicasa works with people who want to make a plan to stay safe, correct gambling that's gone off track, or recover from gambling-related harm. Support can include individual, group, family, peer services, and connection to financial recovery services.
