What a great Mother’s Day crowd and attendance for our ritual. Thanks to all that helped make this a success! Especially Cindy who cracked 200+ eggs, Doug who fried 20lbs of Tatar Tots and Eddie who fried 400 pieces of bacon and 200+ sausage Pattie’s. All this on propane based cookers. We all appreciate your efforts! And it was a lot of fun interacting with our members and their family!

The “Friends of the Elks Club” fund raiser was a huge success.

We raised more than $3,200. Gabby has the money bag. Randy and Gabby Dyer ($600), Bill and Kathy Willett ($600), Rotonda CERT ($600) and Gulf Coast ERT ($200) donated a total of $2,000. Landys Restaurant provided all the food and sides which raised an additional $842.56. Jean and Bob ran two 50/50s and John C had a great showing for Show Me the Money. Mary and Larry had bar sales in excess of $1,500. We had over 120 people that filled all our chairs and what little standing room that was available. Rae Lynne and Diana helped setup and supported Todd, Dave and John Stem our cooks. They grilled from 1pm until after 5pm just in case members who worked stopped by. And they did. We did last call at 6:30pm.

The reason this fund raiser was conceived was the previous Wednesday I dropped by for a beer where about 25 people were playing a game. Almost everyone of them approached me with their story and lack of feeling and support. They had gone through hell and needed something positive. It took a little effort and friends to accomplish this in less than 5 days. Look what this same group did for our Homeless Veterans in less than 45 days. It just takes a little effort.

So I was reading the constant contact today regarding the maintenance. Awesome. I scroll down and see that we are now advertising that corn hole is at the American legion. Why are we advertising this?? The corn hole group decided to go elsewhere. We should not be advertising for them at a different location. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Charlie thanks everyone for a very successful event that collected almost $25,000 and allowed our ER Ed Toth and our Leading Knight Randy Dyer to represent our Lodge and present to Jenifer Welch from the Homeless Coalition a check for $18,000 to be used exclusively for our Homeless Veterans here in Charlotte County.
