The harsh reality is that one pill-- or even half a pill -- can kill.
Talking about Fentanyl and Naloxone can feel like opening Pandora's Box. It feels easier to assume your kid would never use drugs. But your teen doesn’t need to be “using drugs” to be at risk. One fake pill at a party can be enough. Knowledge isn’t scary — it’s protective.

Kat had gone out dancing with friends and unknowingly took something laced with fentanyl. When she got home, she went straight to bed — but her breathing sounded wrong: loud, labored, off. We didn't understand what was happening until we couldn't wake her. Naloxone hadn't even been in our house until a few weeks earlier — we never thought we'd need it. In the panic that followed, each of us remembers being the one who administered the Naloxone — we still can't agree on who it was, and honestly, it doesn't matter. Kat came to a few minutes later, right around the time 911 arrived. Those few minutes were the scariest of our lives. We're endlessly grateful we had Naloxone on hand and that we got to talk to her, hold her, and hug her for a while longer.

The Athlete's Story: "Our team took a quick trip to a nearby city to get a break from the nonstop grind of practice, games, and school. In the middle of what was supposed to be a fun day, one of my friends started to overdose. I still don’t know if she took something recreational on purpose or if someone slipped her something without her knowledge — everything happened so fast. I was terrified, but I had my KatKit with me, and I was able to give her naloxone. It reversed the overdose and kept her alive. I’ll never forget how grateful I was to have it on hand. "
