The 2026 Ernesto Ramos New Mexico Senior Olympics State Summer Games have officially arrived, bringing hundreds of athletes from across the state together to compete, inspire, and prove that determination doesn’t have an expiration date. From the track to the field, from first-time competitors to seasoned champions, these athletes continue to redefine what is possible at every age. The Summer Games are being held in Las Cruces June 17–21, 2026.

Las Cruces has become the home of the State Summer Games, and this week our city gets to showcase the very best of New Mexico: perseverance, sportsmanship, and heart. ❤️💛

If you see Ralph around Las Cruces or at one of the many competition venues, snap a photo and share it. The athletes have spent months preparing for this moment, and our community has the opportunity to help celebrate them all week long.

Age is just a number. Competitive spirit is forever.

“You don’t stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing.” That simple truth lives at the heart of New Mexico Senior Olympics, where adults 50+ continue to show up, move their bodies, and find joy in competition, connection, and community. Every game, every practice, and every event is a reminder that staying active is not about age, it’s about mindset and the willingness to keep going.

Here, play goes beyond simple recreation; it’s a pathway to staying strong, social, and actively involved in life.

Every June 14th, we join communities across the country in recognizing Flag Day and the rich history behind the Stars and Stripes. As a New Mexico nonprofit dedicated to senior athletics and healthy aging, we appreciate how symbols like the flag bring people together—just like our statewide senior games and wellness events.

Here are a few facts that remind us why this American symbol continues to inspire:

🔹 The current 50-star design was created by a 17-year-old student whose design was selected from more than 3,000 submissions.

🔹 There have been 27 official versions of the flag, with most changes reflecting the growth of the nation as new states joined the Union.

🔹 The colors have long been recognized for their meaning: red for hardiness and valor, white for purity and innocence, and blue for vigilance, perseverance, and justice.

🔹 Six American flags have been placed on the moon by Apollo astronauts.

🔹 Our current flag design is the longest-running in U.S. history.

As we celebrate Flag Day, our team at New Mexico Senior Olympics hopes the day brings you pride, gratitude, and a moment to reflect on the history we all share.

What Flag Day traditions do you enjoy? Share your favorites with us!
