has been committed to improving the quality of life for children infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS in Georgia through enriching programs, unforgettable experiences, and connections with the community. We define “Quality of Life” as the degree to which an individual enjoys physical, social, and emotional well-being and sees him/herself as being able to experience future success and fulfillment

Our programs and services include Super HEROes Mentoring, Camp High Five, Holiday of HEROes, Bright HEROs Educational Enrichment, Transition to Adulthood, and unforgettable experiences events (i.e., University of Georgia HEROs Spring Events, Olympics, etc.). We strive to offer our children a variety of avenues via which to experience the normal joys of childhood, improve their academic performance, life skills, and self-esteem, and develop supportive friendships with peers in order to help them become young adults who contribute positively to society. currently impacts more than 350 children with more than 300 volunteers annually. The majority of our target population served reside in the metropolitan Atlanta area (over 65% between Fulton and Dekalb counties alone). Approximately 33% of H.E.R.O. children are HIV positive and the other 67% are affected (i.e. have an infected parent, sibling, residential relative, or have lost relatives to HIV/AIDS-related complications). Twenty-five percent (25%) of H.E.R.O. children have lost parents as a result of HIV/AIDS-related complications, and almost 90% come from low-income families (household incomes are $15,000/year or less). programs are offered free of charge.
