Hurricanes Harvey and Irma remind us all too vividly that natural disasters create terrible conditions for people living in affected areas. We insurance professionals see the financial impact, but not always the emotional toll on those who suffer through storms, fires, earthquakes and other such events. The Farmers Agent Council in Georgia has decided that it's time to step up and take action to help those whose lives are radically altered -- sometimes forever -- by such disasters. We'd love it if you'd join us.
Our council has founded a non-profit organization, the GFA Humanitarian Fund, to generate money and goods for those in need after a disaster strikes. What makes us different from other organizations is how we will distribute donations: through fellow Farmers agents in the areas needing support. We believe this will ensure that donations get directly to the community as quickly and efficiently as possible.
So how can you help? Our website, www.gfahf.org, is up and running, and you can make a contribution online (and print a receipt for tax purposes). Or, checks may be made payable to the GFA Humanitarian Fund and mailed to our office at 802 Macy Drive, Roswell, GA 30076. Another option is donating goods. If you're interested in doing so, a list of items is on our website, www.gfahf.com/items-for-donation, and you may drop them at our office Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Those who donate goods or send checks also will receive a receipt for your taxes.
If you have any questions not answered on our website, please feel free to contact me directly at 678-369-6999. As Executive Director of the Fund, I would like to thank you in advance for helping our friends in Texas and Florida recover and rebuild faster through the GFA Humanitarian Fund.
