11Alive spent a day with us at summer camp. James's mom Christine told them that when she explained he has a history of eloping and uses an iPad to talk, she was told "not a problem," and that it took her aback. It shouldn't be a surprising thing to hear. Every community has kids on the spectrum, and we don't feel they should be left out because they might look or act or behave differently than other kids.
They still want to learn. They still want to play with friends and grow. That's what this place is for, and every parent who calls should hear what Christine heard.
If there's a family in your life still searching the way Christine was, send them this. And if you know someone looking for a place to give, a gift here keeps a spot open for a kid who needs one. We're a 501(c)(3), so it's tax deductible. uiranch.org
