Another BIG day in Manchester! 🐶⚽️🏴

Today, three of the Big Dogs got the chance to tour Manchester City’s stadium, and we had an absolute blast!

From competing on the world stage yesterday to getting out and experiencing everything Manchester has to offer today, this trip has been about so much more than powerlifting. It’s about giving these guys experiences, making memories, and seeing the world together!

The Big Dogs have definitely been making the most of Manchester! 🇬🇧🐶🇺🇸

What a BRILLIANT day at the AWPC World Championships in Manchester! 🇺🇸🌎🏋️‍♂️

The Big Dogs were absolutely AMAZING today!

🌎 Amiri, George, Dave, and Taylor all set WORLD RECORDS!

💪 Aaron added new personal records and, as always, kept the entire team hyped up all day!

🇮🇳 We made a new Special Olympics powerlifting friend from India, reminding us once again that this sport brings people together from all over the world.

🏆 And Dave brought home ANOTHER Best Lifter Award!

But as proud as we are of the records and awards, the best part of this trip has been hearing compliment after compliment from people about how awesome the Big Dogs are. That means more to us than any medal or record ever could.

And today wasn't easy. The weights got HEAVY, and the boys faced some setbacks along the way. But they never let a missed attempt get to them. They came back, made the adjustments, and when it came down to those big third attempts, they dug deep and grinded through some incredibly tough lifts! THAT is what we are most proud of.

Coach Catalina and I could not be more proud of this team—not just for how they lifted, but for how they represented Big Dog Barbell and the USA on the world stage. 🇺🇸

World records. Personal records. Best Lifter. New friendships. And a whole lot of people getting to see exactly...

The Big Dogs are officially ALL in Manchester, England! 🇺🇸🐶🇬🇧

After a long day of travel, the boys got their first taste of English rugby culture tonight while watching their Coach get a run in at the historic Broughton Park FC! 🏉

It was awesome getting to show the Big Dogs another side of sports and let them experience what a true community rugby club is all about. They got to see the traditions, camaraderie, and culture that make rugby such a special sport.

Of course, they also got to watch Coach Porter try to keep up at rugby practice after a full day of traveling! 😂

A HUGE thank you to Broughton Park FC and Coach Higi for welcoming all of us and giving the Big Dogs such a great experience on our first night in Manchester!

Today marked the last heavy squat session of the training cycle for our five Big Dogs heading to Manchester, England for the AWPC World Championships! 💪🇺🇸

The guys also got to break in their brand-new Big Dog Barbell Team USA singlets, complete with their nicknames across the back. They looked incredible, and the energy in the gym was even better!

A huge thank you to our anonymous donor for making this gear possible. Your generosity means our athletes will proudly represent the good ol' USA in style on the world stage.

The atmosphere today was electric as everyone cheered each other through one final heavy squat day. The hard work is nearly done...

We had a BIG training day today! All five Big Dogs heading to Manchester came together and put up some serious weight as they prepare for the AWPC World Championships!

The atmosphere was electric, with everyone cheering each other on and celebrating every lift. Days like today are what make this team so special—and make all the hard work so much fun!

Now, let's introduce the athlete who helped start it all—Dave Githutu.

Dave is returning to Manchester, England, where the Big Dog Barbell movement truly began. In 2022, Dave won both the American Powerlifting Federation - APF World Championship in the typical 18–19 division and the Special Olympics AWPC World Championship. Watching Dave compete on the world stage inspired us to dream bigger, and when we returned home, Big Dog Barbell became an official 501(c)(3). Dave didn't just win world titles—he lit the fire that started this movement.

Now, four years later, Dave is heading back to Manchester to continue inspiring others and showing the world what people with intellectual disabilities can do.

George is quickly becoming one of the rising stars in Special Olympics powerlifting. At Nationals in Utah, he set a new American Powerlifting Federation - APF AWPC World Record deadlift of 319 pounds while competing at a bodyweight of just 140 pounds! His hard work, determination, and love for the sport continue to inspire everyone around him, and we couldn't be more proud to have him represent Big Dog Barbell and Team USA at the AWPC World Championships in Manchester, England.

Next up on our road to Manchester is Amiri Abraham!

Amiri will be representing Big Dog Barbell at the AWPC World Championships in Manchester, England. One of the hardest-working athletes in the gym, Amiri is always ready to train, compete, and chase new personal records.

Around Big Dog Barbell, Amiri is also famous for something else—his BIG post-lift hugs! After a successful lift, there's a good chance Coach Josh is about to get tackled by a celebration hug that puts his bad hamstring to the test. Fortunately, the hugs are worth it every time.

Amiri brings joy, determination, and an incredible competitive spirit to our team, and we can't wait to watch him compete on the world stage.
