This is a reminder that the Statewide Public Warning System Drill coordinated by the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) will take place tomorrow, Thursday, April 2, 2026, between 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM.
To help everyone prepare, below is what to expect in McLennan County tomorrow:
The Waco / McLennan County Office of Emergency Management will coordinate the countywide response to the exercise.
Our office will handle the IPAWS/WEA activation and the CivicPlus mass notification for McLennan County.
Jurisdictions with outdoor warning sirens should plan to conduct their April siren test tomorrow at 10:00 AM in coordination with the statewide drill, rather than on the normal first-Friday schedule.
If conditions warrant canceling the outdoor warning siren test, that decision will be made tomorrow morning and communicated by email to the Outdoor Warning Siren group.
PSAPs across McLennan County have been notified and provided message details, suggested call-taker language, and responses to expected public questions. That information is below.
Residents may receive test messages through local emergency notification systems and Wireless Emergency Alerts on mobile phones. Some individuals may receive more than one alert as part of this coordinated exercise.
This is only a test. No action is required unless a real-world emergency occurs.
This exercise is an opportunity to confirm that our public warning systems are functioning properly and that alerts can be delivered quickly and effectively during real emergencies.
If you have any questions please call us at 254-750-5911.
We appreciate your partnership and support as we work together to keep McLennan County prepared.
