We are saddened to have just learned of the passing of our longtime friend John Sullivan. John was a local businessman and active member of the Kiwanis. John was known for his deep baritone voice and was a master of ceremonies at many public events.

A Celebration of life will take place at the Mann-Rodgers Funeral Home, 44 Perkins Street, (corner of South Huntington Ave.) Jamaica Plain on SUNDAY, JANUARY 11, 2026 from 4pm - 7 pm. Family and friends invited.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 12, 2026 at Sacred Heart Church, 169 Cummins Hwy. in Roslindale at 10 o'clock

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Roslindale/West Roxbury Kwanis organization via Venmo (Venmo@RosWestRoxkiwanis)

City of Boston has announced night work on the Walworth Street Bridge that connects South Street with Belgrade Ave. at Fallon Field. Overnight work on the substructure of the Walworth Street Bridge in Roslindale could begin as early as Monday, January 5, 2026 contingent on MBTA approval and availability of personnel to manage the railway underneath the bridge during construction. The City of Boston’s team is only being given access to complete the construction repairs during times when trains are not operating, so work is anticipated to be between the hours of 11 p.m. - 5 a.m. For the duration of the project, the bridge will remain open to pedestrians and vehicles.

Also note that at the end of January and into early February, the West Roxbury Parkway Bridge (MassDOT State Highway Bridge) between Centre Street and Belgrade Ave will have work that will also suspend auto traffic and train service.
