In our area today is the first day of school for many and we didn't want to feel left out, so enjoy our Foundation back to school photos!

With the start of another school year, we are excited to announce that we are continuing our partnership with NASA and the Rosholt School District to bring NASA DISCOVERIES to another group of 4th-grade students. Once a month, all 36 students in the Rosholt Elementary School 4th-grade classes will come out to the Foundation to conduct citizen science data collection and investigate surface temperature. Along the way, they will have the opportunity to meet NASA Scientists and spend time in nature.

Have you registered for Mad Dog & Merrill Midwest Grillin' at Wisconsin Lions Camp yet? Although the filming is free, we are asking people to pre-register to help us plan. You can also purchase lunch from Ski's Meat Market when you register. The proceeds are supporting Wisconsin Lions Camp.

This event on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 from 11 AM - 3 PM is sure to be one to remember. We will also be giving tours of Camp, having a 50/50 raffle, and much more! Don't delay, get your tickets today!

Our thoughts have been with many of the Fox Valley communities after the devastating tornadoes went through their area. We are proud to partner with Bushman Associates to donate 400 lbs of potatoes to the St. Joe's Food Pantry in Menasha to help assist with disaster relief. The potatoes were delivered yesterday and the staff who received the donation indicated that the potatoes would quickly be distributed to those in need.

Thank you Bushman Associates for working with us as the Fox Valley recovers.

A big thank you to our community partners, including Stevens Point Police Department, Portage County Sheriff's Department, Plover Fire Department and Police, Amherst Fire District, Stevens Point Fire Department, Rosholt Fire District, Rosholt Area First Responders, Sharon First Responders, and the many other agencies and responders who spent the day with us!

The camp’s director said the training allows staff and crews to implement their training and camp procedures in a high-stress situation.

Important Reminder:
All WLF Offices and properties, including Wisconsin Lions Camp and Wisconsin Lions Camp Disc Golf Course, will be closed tomorrow (8/26) for law enforcement and emergency responder training.

To our neighbors, you will see a lot of emergency responders and vehicles in the area and on-site tomorrow; please know it is just a training. We are pleased to be able to donate our facilities to this important community training. Thank you for avoiding the area tomorrow.

Conducting a vision screening at a school, daycare, preschool, or community event can be pretty quick, but the effects of that vision screening can be felt much longer. We recently heard from Stephanie, a parent whose child was referred during a vision screening event two years ago.

Stephanie said:
"I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your partnership with Kid Sight USA. Because of your partnership, my son had an abnormal screening exam late 2024 at his daycare when he was only 16 months old. This has lead us down a long path to fortunately catch an underlying congenital structural abnormality of his eye that is very rare. We have been able to start treatment before we ever noticed any visual deficits. Because of our early intervention, my son will hopefully be able to maximize vision in his eye and never develop future problems. Thank you again for the work that you do - it has certainly made a difference in our lives!"

Thank you to the certified Lions of MD27 Lions of Wisconsin who conducted the Lions KidSight Vision Screening and made a difference for this child. Referrals, like this one, are why vision screening is so important!

The first deer hunting season opens in about 20 days here in Wisconsin! That means it's time to make final preparations for our largest fundraiser of the year, the Deer Hide Collection.

We have been reaching out to known collection sites around the state, working to update our map with anticipated opening dates. If you are part of a collection site and have not heard from us yet, please reach out to [email protected] so that we can confirm your site is up to date on our map.

How are we already at the point of talking back to school?

When you are out doing your back to school shopping, don't forget about the Foundation's Wish List. Many of the things on the wish list can also be found at back to school sales and stores.
