This modern hymn was written in 1959 by Norman O. Forness for the Lutheran Book of Worship-era renewal, with a bold marching tone that calls the church into active discipleship.

It fits beautifully with Matthew 9:35–10:8 [9–23], where Jesus sends out the disciples to proclaim the kingdom, heal, and serve. The hymn echoes that same urgency: the church is not meant to stay still, but to rise and go into the world as workers in Christ’s harvest.
