Maranatha recently wrapped its first-ever project in the world famous Yosemite National Park in California. 76 volunteers served at Camp Wawona, a summer camp located within the boundaries of the park. They painted 8 A-frame cabins, re-sided a shop, and made numerous renovations to the historic camp headquarters. They tackled various projects in the lodge, like ripping up old carpet, stripping two layers of drywall, installing all new electric, and putting in 10 new windows. Volunteers also created a larger women’s bathroom in the lodge that now houses 3 toilets, 3 showers, and 2 sinks.

Finally, a team transformed the camp’s amphitheater, replacing worn benches, milling their own lumber along the way, and replacing and expanding the stage decking. Camp leadership was so excited for all of this help, an application for the next project was submitted before the first project was over!

Brad Davis was at a crossroads. After 41 years in education, he was finally retiring. Just six months prior, he had lost his beloved wife of 38 years. Life was suddenly so different. Brad knew he had to find a way to move forward into a new chapter. The question was, in what direction? This summer, the arrow seemed to be pointing south, to Peru.

After a troubled start to life, Nathan White was looking for a way to do good in the world. He had recently given his heart to God and wanted to give back and share the Light of the gospel. Then, a friend invited him on a Maranatha mission trip. The experience introduced him to a new world of service, opened his eyes to the world, and filled his heart.

Catherine Adap was first introduced to mission trips when she volunteered with her family on Maranatha’s Family Project. That trip to the Dominican Republic was in the midst of a dark season in her life, but she found healing through service and the intense encounter with God. What started as a step of faith has turned into a journey of hope, one that’s led her on several more mission trips, healed and reborn in Christ.

Emily Popa has always sought a faith community amongst her peers, from summer camp to Pathfinders, to Maranatha's high school mission trip, Ultimate Workout. This year, newly graduated from university and entering a different season of life, Emily’s past experiences with Maranatha inspired her to join the Catalyst young adult mission trip, in hopes of finding community among peers through faith and service. What Emily experienced was far more impactful than what she’d anticipated.
