๐๏ธ In Memory of Pope Francis ๐๏ธ
On behalf of all of us at World Refugees School (WRS), we extend our deepest condolences on the passing of Pope Francis.
A tireless advocate for peace, compassion, and human dignity, Pope Francis stood as a beacon of hope for the worldโs most vulnerable; especially migrants, refugees, and displaced communities. His unwavering call for inclusion, mercy, and education for all will forever inspire our mission.
We will never forget the honor of meeting him during the Refugee & Migrant Education International Conference at the Vatican back in 2022. In our private audience at Saint Peterโs Square, Pope Francis emphasized the value of education as a right, not a privilege, for every refugee and migrant child. He highlighted the critical role of distance learning and the need to ensure academic recognition for displaced learners, encouraging us to keep building bridges, not walls.
His words continue to echo in our hearts:
โHistory teaches us that the contribution of migrants and refugees has been fundamental to the social and economic growth of our societies.โ
As we mourn the loss of a great humanitarian leader, we also renew our commitment to his visionโa world that uplifts the displaced, welcomes the stranger, and educates every child.
Rest in peace, Pope Francis. Your legacy lives on in every refugee classroom and in every heart touched by your compassion. ๐๏ธ
