It is with a grateful heart for what they do at The Grove for the young people, that HomeAid Sacramento decided to fund the $500 cost associated with one year of counselling and supportive services for twelve residents of The Grove ($6,000). Additionally, HomeAid decided to sponsor the maintenance of six cabins at $1,000 per cabin ($6,000). A check for $12,000 was presented to First Step Communities for this purpose at our July Board of Directors meeting. The value FSC brings to the lives of the young people they serve AND the value they bring to our community at large cannot be measured. We’re grateful for our partnership and for their dedication to moving the needle on homelessness.

In case you missed us on every major media outlet earlier this week... 🏠

We had to go BIG with our first ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of the first TWO houses rebuilt by Elliott Homes, who rallied their trades and made it possible for us to hand keys to a brand new home to two deserving families (each!) who lost their homes in the Caldor Fire, five years to the day from our celebration.

In partnership with El Dorado County and with continued support from the El Dorado Community Foundation - this is just the beginning as we exercise the power of collaboration to help rebuild the community of Grizzly Flats who had lost hope that anyone would "come for us," until now.

We're beyond grateful to Elliott Homes, their trusted trades, and everyone else who made this possible!

🚍 How do you rally a big crowd to make the trek out to Grizzly Flats for their entire morning, you say? Charter a bus and load it with champagne - it's a celebration, ladies and gentlemen! 🥂

There's a plan, called Title 25, to get victims back into an actual house. It essentially skirts some of the building regulations, like solar and sprinklers, by building homes with smaller square footage.

We celebrated a milestone! On August 3, we marked the completion of our 125th project with a ribbon-cutting for xHope’s new Pathways of Hope Empowerment Center. The ceremony brought together community partners and local leaders, including remarks from Sacramento District 5 Supervisor Pat Hume and Elk Grove Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen.

This inspiring new center will serve as a dedicated hub for educational programming, youth enrichment, mentorship, caregiver support, and community collaboration. It will also provide a welcoming space where organizations, schools, businesses, and community leaders can gather to host meetings, build partnerships, and work together to strengthen support for vulnerable children and families.

We are grateful to Builder Captain Roussos Construction for its leadership on this milestone project, and to KTM Construction, Urban Surfaces, Sonray Door and Trim, and USA Properties Fund for their generous contributions. We also thank Pennymac for hosting a clothing drive to help stock the Center's community closet.
