Placer Breast Cancer Foundation Board and volunteers are reflecting on the lasting impact of our longtime board member and friend, Aldo Pineschi, whose influence continues to guide and inspire our work. Aldo played a pivotal role in the formation of the Foundation in 2005 and served as a founding board member, championing the establishment and endowment of the Breast Cancer Chair at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center.
For twenty years, Aldo was devoted to advancing our mission. He led the annual Hot Pink Fun Run in Roseville, guided the Mandarin Walk (now our Annual Dinner in the Orchard), and tirelessly fundraised to support research, education, and patient programs. He also encouraged the Foundation to pursue expanded cancer research opportunities at UC Davis that would benefit not only breast cancer patients, but all cancer patients.
Even after his loss in May of 2024, Aldo remains a defining part of our story—an advocate whose passion, leadership, and generosity continue to shape the Foundation’s impact. In recognition of this enduring legacy, the Foundation established the Aldo Pineschi Memorial Grant in the summer of 2024. Each year, this grant funds two breast cancer patients participating in an ongoing research trial led by Dr. Toscano at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. The study focuses on developing less toxic cancer treatments with the goal of improving quality of life for those diagnosed.
In honor of Aldo’s legacy, we invite Aldo’s friends, and all those in our community who have felt the impact of his work, to support the Aldo Pineschi Memorial Grant during this year’s Big Day of Giving on May 7th. This grant continues the work Aldo championed—funding innovative research, supporting local patients, and strengthening the future of cancer care.
This year, your gift can make an even greater impact. River Valley Community Bank is generously matching all donations—dollar for dollar—up to $2,500. This matching opportunity allows every contribution to go twice as far in honoring Aldo’s legacy and supporting the work he was devoted to.
