🤟💙 National Deaf Day — September 27th 💙🤟

Today we celebrate the strength, culture, language, and incredible contributions of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. 🫶

Being Deaf is not something that defines a person’s limits. Communication may look different — through sign language, facial expressions, technology, lip reading, or other ways — but everyone deserves to be seen, heard, included, and respected.

Today is a reminder to: 🤟 Learn a few signs
💙 Support accessibility and inclusion
👂 Be patient with different ways of communicating
🫶 Celebrate Deaf culture and community
✨ Remember that communication has no barriers when we make the effort to understand one another.

Different ways to communicate. Same need to connect. Same right to belong. 💙

Parents and Guardians,

We would like to sincerely apologize to inform you of this, however, we must for the best interest of everyone’s safety: After careful consideration with our Board, we regret to inform you that Lions Wilderness Camp for Deaf Children South Camp is CANCELLED due to the ongoing Wildfires.

The Summit Fire has kept spreading to the point where we have to come to this decision. This was not an easy decision and is unfortunate for all of us. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

We understand how important Lion’s Camp is for our families and share in your disappointment. Our team was also looking forward to a vibrant and memorable camp week.

The Board is offering families the following options:

South Camp registrations may be transferred to North Camp, based on availability (first come, first served and Cabin Space, please email as soon as possible if you are interested).

You can request this year’s registration for South Camp 2026 to be rolled over to next year South Camp 2027 through email, [email protected] with Subject “CAMPER’S NAME: Roll Over 2027”

Separately:

Camp store funds will be refunded back.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding, patience, and continued support during this difficult time.
