Hello Wolverines, friends, families, neighbors, community and followers! First things first, a question I’m often asked, “Where/when did you learn/find your passion for community/advocacy?” My inspiration comes from Olympic Gold Medalist, Billy Mills () and his wife, Abstract Artist and Gallery Owner, Patricia Mills. For the last 15 years, they have been a contributing source of inspiration and my favorite teachers. Coincidentally, today is Billy’s 86th birthday! Happy Birthday, Billy!

That said, I want to personally extend heartfelt gratitude to all of you, today and every day. In case you weren’t already aware, my Westbrook PTC days have come to an end.

But first! Please join Westbrook PTC at John L. Sullivan Park on July 9th from 9:30-10am while we vote in the new Westbrook PTC board. Your vote matters!

Furthermore, I am humbled by this entire co-founding and leading the charge of Westbrook PTC experience. While most endings are bittersweet, I’m also beaming with pride - WE absolutely ROCKED our inaugural year! The best part? WE did this (looking at YOU) together! Thank you will never be enough, but it’ll have to do for now.

I will miss you all and wish you all the best! I greatly look forward to being able to get to know you all in the wild! Not just as a community member, but as a fellow parent and hopefully a friend within the community too.
Looking ahead, congratulations to the future board on the next chapter of ! Don’t forget to celebrate yourselves… After all, !

Lastly, my final PSA please be good to your heart! Get yours and your children’s hearts checked regularly!! waits for no one and can happen at any time. If nothing else, become trained and certified in both CPR and the usage of AEDs!

Good morning, Wolverines, friends, families and supporters! Today, we are highlighting a local business, .store (also .bin) the General Discount Bin Store in Citrus Heights. This store is at the top of the list of our favorite places to shop. The owners, Nina and Andre, have been incredibly generous and thoughtful in their support of all things . Whenever we become aware of a critical need on campus or in our community, we call Nina first! Their store and their online auctions via BidRL Citrus Heights have allowed us to stretch every single dollar that has been donated to us. Most importantly, Nina and Andre make it possible for communities to thrive instead of barely survive. Each day, Monday - Saturday, the prices go down. Monday everything in store is $7 and by Saturday, each item is 50¢. You’ll be amazed by what you find and how much money you can save by shopping there. Nina and Andre have also been known to host bbqs for their customers! What’s even better? When you shop there, you’ll likely run into someone you know, namely (hi, it’s me) the Westbrook PTC crew! I (Traci) ran into just last week! Thank you Nina and Andre for all you’ve done for the community. You are appreciated beyond measure. Your kindness will never be forgotten. You’ll go down in the history of Westbrook PTC as a Founding Supporter. We couldn’t do this without you.

Shhhhhh… don’t tell the teachers and staff… The crew (Namely, Zuleika and Traci - The unofficial supply bargain shoppers) have been amassing a stash of all things mentioned by teachers and support staff that would be helpful, useful, dreamed about and or desperately needed on the Westbrook Campus. We gave it our all and gave with our hearts at every opportunity we could (and plan to continue as long as we can). It’s a shared passion of our Westbrook PTC Crew to alleviate the out of pocket expenses our teachers and support staff pay and generously contribute annually. Now, we’re here to give back to them! Our teachers and support staff are invited to shop our Teacher and Support Staff Surprise Store tomorrow, Thursday, May 23 and Friday, May 24th. Wait until you see what we have in store for them, pun most definitely intended! This specific thank you box is intended for our custodial staff (one box for each of them) that include all the things that remind us of them and show how much we appreciate them. Thank you Silvia, Matia and James! You’re the heart of our school. Thank you to all Westbrook Teachers and Support Staff, we made it!

You will likely see and or hear: police/fire/SWAT, motorcycles, patrol cars, undercover vehicles, SWAT, mobile command centers and possibly a helicopter landing. There is NO EMERGENCY - This is a preplanned and approved. There will be heavy law enforcement presence for our Inaugural ROCKstar First Responder Day at !

Thank you so much to our friends Vanessa and Chad at our local in Roseville, CA! Yesterday’s Teacher & Staff Appreciation breakfast and lunch spread included some seriously sweet treats! Thank you, Marni from for allowing us to share the gift of your pies, scones and brownies with all of Westbrook! Most were taken by the time we could even get a picture. We are so grateful to everyone in our community who has helped us feed the teachers and staff at this week! The Westbrook staff are absolutely blown away with the food, variety, selection and quantity! THANK YOU to our friends, families, supporters and community for always showing up for us. We appreciate all of YOU! From Traci: I’d like to give a very special thank you to my PTC superheroes: Zuleika, Whitney, Erin and Tahnee who have all taken shifts, shopped and or made plans to ensure we have been able to feed everyone. We make a great team! Thanks to those who have donated food, helped us makeover our Prize Store and supported us all year long! We feel so loved too.
