Getting close.
The Fort Bend County Fair Association is proud to announce the return of its annual BBQ Cookoff, taking place Friday and Saturday, September 19 and 20, 2025, at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds in Rosenberg. 69 cook-off teams will fill the fairgrounds, setting the stage for a packed weekend of competition, live music, Lawn Mower racing action, and family fun.
With $6,500 in prize money, buckles, and major trophies up for grabs, teams from across the region fire up their pits and compete for top honors in categories including brisket, ribs, chicken, fajitas, beans, chili, stew, gumbo, and more. The competition also includes awards for showmanship and best BBQ sauce.
Friday night will feature live music from Louisiana Music Hall of Fame band, Bag of Donuts, while Saturday night will bring a headline performance by Siggno, known for their unique Tejano/Norteno blend and high-energy stage presence.
Saturday, September 20 also marks the new date for the Lou Sergeant III Memorial Lawn Mower Races presented by McDonaldโs. Officially sanctioned by the Lone Star Mower Racing Association (LSMRA) as part of its 2025 Tour, the race honors Lou Sergeant III, past committee chairman, beloved community member, and motorsports enthusiast. This yearโs race is a key stop on the LSMRA circuit and will draw 40 to 60 drivers from across Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.
In addition to lawn mower racing, the event will include Kart racing and a Power Wheels race for kids. Hot laps begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by competitive heat races at noon.
Also on Saturday, fairgoers can enter the 3rd annual Co****le Tournament and compete for bragging rights and prizes. Online registration is now open, and the competition will follow a double elimination format.
The BBQ Cookoff weekend serves as a kickoff to the full Fort Bend County Fair, which officially runs from September 26 to October 5. A sneak peek night for the community will be held on Thursday, September 25, with all shopping and food vendors open for business. The carnival will be in full swing.
Last yearโs BBQ champions included Grand Champion No Limit Cookers and Culinary Grand Champion Triple B. The 2025 event promises to be even more competitive, with many top teams returning to defend their titles and earn cash and prizes.
All events take place at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds, located at 4310 Highway 36 South in Rosenberg, Texas. For the full fair schedule, ticket information, or to register for events like the Co****le Tournament, visit fortbendcountyfair.com.
