Better late than never. 🙌🏽✨
On Juneteenth, Dr. Verdi Lethermon, Clinical Psychologist, brought the energy with her session "Yesterday, Now and Tomorrow" — walking our youth through their past, challenging them in their present, and pushing them toward the future they deserve.
No more excuses. Just growth. 💙🧡
Thank you, Dr. Verdi, for keeping it real with our youth!

Today's session was something special. ✨
FBPFY, Inc. welcomed back Cindy Ventura from Young Audiences Arts for Learning Houston for a yoga and sound healing workshop — and as always, the youth loved it.
From guided movements tailored to every skill level, to meditation that helps quiet the noise of daily life, Cindy has a way of creating a space where young people can breathe, reset, and just be.
Yoga isn't just a workout — it's a tool. It teaches young people how to manage emotions, handle pressure, face setbacks, and make better decisions. That kind of self-regulation is something they carry with them long after the session ends.
We're so grateful for Cindy and Young Audiences for continuing to show up for our youth. 🧘🏽‍♀️🎶

Soul Clark delivered a powerful and empowering message to youth centered on breaking cycles, perseverance, and reclaiming personal power. Through a presentation grounded in lived experience, she shared how she endured childhood abuse and navigated the foster care system, ultimately emerging stronger and using her journey to inspire others to persevere and overcome.

Her message encouraged participants to rise above adversity, push through challenges, and take full ownership of their journey with confidence, resilience, and purpose. The takeaway was clear: you are not stuck in your story—you have the power to rewrite it.

A special thank you to Ms. Clark for sharing her story and using her lived experience to inspire and empower our youth.

Please check out her book: Thank You for Smiling.

Dr. Gregory Williams captivated our youth with a powerful message of hope, resilience, and triumph over adversity. Sharing his deeply personal experience of surviving childhood abuse, he demonstrated how pain does not have to define a person’s future. Instead, he showed how healing, perseverance, and purpose can transform even the most difficult circumstances into opportunities for growth and success.

His story challenged youth to see beyond their current struggles, embrace their potential, and understand that their past does not determine their destiny. The impact of his words served as a powerful reminder that strength can emerge from hardship and that every setback can become a stepping stone toward a brighter future.

Thank you, Dr. Williams, for inspiring our youth to turn pain into purpose and adversity into achievement.

Please check out his book: Shattered by the Darkness: Putting the Pieces Back Together After Child Abuse.

FBPFY, Inc. welcomed Joy Saxton with ARTreach for a hands-on Mixed Media Workshop that sparked creativity and self-expression in youth.

Participants designed and created their own stick puppets while exploring imagination, storytelling, and collaboration in a supportive environment.

Beyond the art, the session delivered a powerful message of encouragement and self-worth reminding every young person that they matter, their voice matters, and their story matters. 🎨✨

FBPFY was honored to welcome Ms. Melba Lee as our guest speaker! Ms. Lee encouraged youth to develop a growth mindset and view challenges as opportunities for learning, resilience, and personal growth.

Drawing inspiration from The Obstacle Is the Way by Ryan Holiday, youth participated in meaningful discussions about overcoming obstacles, maintaining a positive attitude, and turning setbacks into stepping stones for success. The session challenged youth to think differently about adversity and recognize their ability to persevere through life's challenges.

Thank you, Ms. Lee, for empowering our youth with valuable lessons on resilience, leadership, and personal development!

🎤 “I would say holographic — because my emotions change every second.”

That was just one of the powerful responses shared during today’s session with Soulliaa-Rae of Young Audiences Arts for Learning Houston — and it stopped us in our tracks.

FBPFY, Inc. welcomed Soulliaa-Rae for a Social & Emotional Learning Workshop that gave our youth something they don’t always get — a safe, open space to express themselves freely through music and conversation.

During an open mic moment, youth were asked: “If you could pick a color to describe yourself, what would it be and why?”

Their answers said it all:

💜 “Purple — because I’m outgoing.”
💛 “Yellow — because I go with the flow.”
🩵 “Baby blue — because I’m calm.”
🌈 “Holographic — because my emotions change every second.”

This is what happens when young people are given a voice. Thank you Soulliaa-Rae for creating that space today. 🙏🧡

🎨 Sometimes the most powerful things start with something small.

Today FBPFY, Inc. welcomed Melba Lee of ARTreach for a mindful art experience called “Pushing the Pebble.”

Here’s how it works — you place a small pebble on a blank page and push a pen around it to create flowing loops and doodles. Then you bring it to life with color. Simple. Calming. And incredibly powerful.

The benefits? Reduced stress, stimulated creativity, sharpened senses, and a genuine moment of mindfulness. For our youth, that kind of pause is priceless. 💙

Thank you Melba for bringing this beautiful experience to our youth and for reminding us that healing can come in the most unexpected ways.

💙 Know your worth. Protect your identity. Leave better than you came.

Earlier this week, FBPFY, Inc. welcomed Eugene Johnson of M2M Let’s Talk for a real and powerful conversation with our youth.

Eugene challenged our youth to think about something we don’t always stop to consider — how do you want to be remembered? He spoke on self-value, identity, and the importance of not letting the world define who you are. His message was clear: know your worth, guard your identity, and walk out of every situation better than you walked in.

This is exactly the kind of conversation our youth need to hear. Thank you, Eugene, for showing up and speaking truth. 🙌🧡
