"Telling Your Story" - Writing Session
Workshop by Alida Winternheimer

You know you have a story to tell, and it's worth telling ...
But you aren’t sure how to:
1. access memories, especially the tricky ones stuck in back corners,
2. grease the creative wheels so they turn when you need them to,
3. get beyond the inner critic’s reach, and
4. use techniques that take your words from blasé anecdote to a story people want to hear.

Whether you’d like to record something to pass on to your kids, need to turn part of your history into a compelling narrative that serves your business, or want to explore creative writing, this workshop will give you tools to turn your story into a clear, engaging narrative.

In this day-long workshop, under the guidance of an Education-Theater-Community (ETC) Teaching Artist, students work collaboratively to create their very own Play in a Day! They'll develop story, setting, characters, dialogue and staging around our theme. Throughout the creative process of the day, they'll play games and participate in activities to hone their theater skills. By the end of the class, they'll have a play all their own to perform for family and friends at 3:00 pm. Let's play! Open to 3rd - 6th graders (Fall 2026). Registration is required and there is a limit of 25 students. The cost is $20.

Letters From Home is a musical duo that performs classic and modern songs with a singing and tap dancing USO-style show. Their mission is to honor veterans, active military heroes and their families by reviving patriotism through music. They infuse the classic style of war-time music with a witty, modern edge. Featuring high-energy singing and tap dancing performances by founder Erinn Dearth and self-proclaimed "tall guy" Dan Beckmann. Funny and heartfelt, harmonic and uplifting, Letters From Home will leave you feeling great about being human.

They have performed 1000+ shows across the world (including singing at the 75th Anniversary of D-Day in Normandy France, entertaining Battle of the Bulge veterans in Belgium, and completing a full 50-States Tour in 2023.)
